It is a good start to promote your site to social networking site and it will help boost traffic for your site. I suggest that you can promote your site through webmaster forums, create blogs that tells about your site and reciprocal links.

I Thank everyone of u....
its not my site i'm in between; promoter of the site. Site is related to "online job referral program...especially IT target." so if it would have been my site i can talk about it, sort of personally... the case is not like that.... the objective is to get maximum clicks... think banner ads will help in that regard...
I'll take everyone of ur suggestions... i'll try to do my best ..

Online job referral program? Hmmm... You could always write an article about it and post it on DIGG... If it wasn't for digg, a few of my sites would barely get seen by anyone...

I tested the waters of social networking by submitting an article I wrote on my blog to Netscape last month...it's still on the front page of Google for that keyword so I'm definitely getting into social networking more...

I recently heard of a new comapany called Hypedrive that claims to do just that. They have compiled a large network of contractors that are inside all the major social networks that will talk about your business. Supposedly they have thousands of members who have thousands of friends.

If you are going to do this then you might consider looking at what other companies do on their social network accounts. There are many companies that use sites such as Myspace to maintain a presence, but they are active in some respects and do not conduct business in a spamming manner. You might get some good ideas by looking at how they set up their accounts to better set yours up.

One way is to become active in forums that relate to your books topic. I would not recommend just joining then offering the book. You simply need to do this right and build a good reputation and get to know the people or you are going to simply be branded as a spammer. This can take some time, but as your reputation grows and if you have written a good e-book then people will recommend it and your sales will come.
Of course you can use the advertising route such as Google etc, but you really need to build your rep as an expert to truly be trusted.

I get the point that a forum is a social networking site. What other kind of social networking sites are there?
Cheers

there are some geared toward business Ryze is one, there are others like it.
stumbleupon.com is also a social site and 42things

My myspace delivered some traffic but eventually got deleted. Better startegy next time.
social bookmarking sites are similar like del.icio.us

I believe you are going to see this more often now. In fact I am starting to beleive that there is a huge double standard in how they deal with people that have commercial sites posted on these social networks. Consider the number of large companies that have Myspace accounts and advertise it all over. Now if you were a smaller company doing the same you most likely would have your space deleted. Of course many operators spam the people on the site and this defenitely leads to their removal from the system.
