I have a problem maybe you can help

My problem is I have this affiliate business who believe their success
is the impact of a very good Flash Video Presentation that leaves you without
any questions .You are going to signup or you aren't interested in the program
& nothing said would sway you to join.I have a marketing company I working with that says just the opposite ,that people would rather have text in their hand that they can read at their pace & leisure. I respect the Marketing companys opinion very much. I was wondering if anyone had opinions on this
matter .I would appreciate your response
Thanks Ken

It's definitely different for different people. To me, I'd rather read text if I want education...Video if I want entertainment. But, there are times when videos make most sense. Advise: why not offer both and the consumer gets the choice which is what all consumers love..the choice to choose their own method.

How about this idea. If the people arent interested in your product by the time they get to the bottom of your page how about giving them some pertinent adsense ads to click on as an alternative source of income.

I understand your reason for this, but it honestly does not help to answer the question at hand.

I would do as AnaB suggested and offer both if possible. Many people prefer one method over another and satisfying both of these groups may prove of real benefit to you.

I will jump on the "both" bandwagon too - plus another way to really involve them if the video is more than 90 seconds and assuming it is nicely edited into manageable 'chapters' - break it up with text at the end of each chapter along with the choice to continue... they might read a few chapters via text and get the video for a concept that is difficult to understand.

Mind you any advice you get will be limited as your target audience and product/service isn't mentioned. You don't use the same marketing techniques to sell lingerie as you do denture cleaning products (there's an interesting model for cross promotion )

Great advice! There are really different types of people who would prefer either. If you could offer both, then you cater to all of them

As others have said I think a combo may be best. But the thing is you can never really tell till you test it.

Speaking of testing - Why not throw a test of a section of the site together and forum members can give you an opinion?

I say offer an option for both - that way, those who prefer to watch the presentation could and those who prefer to read the text could do so also.

Personally, it depends on what kind of mood I am in whether or not I watch a presentation or read.
