Help with a Company Name?
I bought a new website but I need to change the name of the company and then I need to get a new logo. I am going to offer a paid logo contest, but first I need to think of a good name for the new company.
www.pondkoi.com is the website. I am going to sell pond plants, pond products and Japanese Koi.
Right now I have "Happy Buddha Pond and Koi Supply" but I don't like it.
Any good ideas for company names that will support the product I am selling that will also work for a logo design with the present red themed website?

I am certainly no expert, but I thought
Oriental Waters
or
The Waters Zen
or
Japanese Water Garden
I feel the words 'Garden' and 'Water' have a relaxing feel. I know...
Water Garden...
Sorry I am not more creative and all the best.

Thanks for your reply. I like how your are thinking, but think about handing someone a business card with the name on it. For instance "Oriental Waters" while is a really cool name and I definitely like it, just would not convey a message of Koi, pond plants and pond products. For me if I saw oriental waters my first thought would be a spa or a business about bottled water.

Dang I like the name "Oriental Waters"
It makes me want to cry that it doesn't send a more defined message..
Here Look at this page with your sound on while you think.

how about a major heading that says
Oriental Waters OR Oriental Koi Waters
(and if you were not going to use the later you could place in a smaller font underneath)
The Domain of 'Koi'
or
Where Koi Reign
or
The Peaceful Koi
Lots of web sites have a heading and then a sub heading..?

I know it is good. It just doesn't give a person who has no idea, what the website is about. I want it, but it won't work.
Something like Oriental Waters Pond, Koi and Products Supply may work.. hmm... 'thinking'
It is a real mouthful...

A catchy phrase like that could actually work IMO, it helps a lot in brand recall. But the design of your site should also comply with that catchy name

I'd recommend staying away from using the word Oriental if you're in the US =D, not exactly politically correct unless you're describing a rug.

How is it not PC? It's a term to describe a race, and is not derogatory at all.

I general the term oriental carries certain connotations and some feel enforces stereotypes. Most of us of asian descent in the US prefer Asian (=.
Don't kill the messenger, I'm just putting it out there. I personally cringe when I hear someone describe a person or things as oriental.
On the topic... I actually kind of dig "Dude, Where's my Koi?"

"Brought to you from the Land of Fu Manchu" ... no, no, no, sorry! That was plain wrong.

I'm part japanese, too. I do not find oriental nor asian offensive. I am oriental. Cringe all you want. I don't know any one else who has that reaction, American, Canadian, or otherwise.
It obviously depends on the intent of the speaker. Think of it this way: it's only offensive if you take offense to it. Take the initiative to embrace the term as a positive cultural label and it will become that.

I was just throwing my opinion and recommendation out there. I'm not here to debate whether or not the word is or isn't offensive. I just know it is to many people. There are many documented cases for and against the use of it.

Only trying to be helpful in terms of answering the original posters question. I simply thought that the use of the word Oriental may not be the wisest of choice.
I'd much rather stay on topic and if you want to discuss it more we can message about this outside of this thread.
