Scams

Hey everyone,

So I saw a post about a scam someone fell for. I was hoping that for us newbies in the business we can create a thread on what business or practices are scams. On the other end, maybe you can share with us business or practices that have helped you along the way. The internet is so full of get rich quick schemes it would be nice to know what to steer clear from.
Thanks!

Where was the post you saw?
  • If someone says something is guaranteed, it's probably not
  • If it seems too good to be true, it is!
  • It is against the TOS to trade egold and paypal dollars
  • That reseller account you are buying that allows proxy and warez probably doesn't - and once the reseller you are buying from gets caught you'll lose your sites and your money.
  • Autosurfing doesn't gain you anything
  • Clicking on ads when you have no interest at all really is fraud.

LOL...

Seriously, though, just use the same common sense online that you would exercise offline...

High Risk Merchants Quick Guide on Telemarketing Frauds

Hey, speaking of scams, here's a good article I read about phone/telemarketing scams:

High Risk Merchants Quick Guide on Telemarketing Frauds

It's not a mystery their usual targets are old retired people with savings in their banks.

Speaking of scams, I have noticed that there are literally a ton of Internet Marketing blogs out there in the wild. I bet some of them are legit but most of them have content on them that makes me think they are scammy. It certainly doesn't help if the marketer's website looks like it came out of the nineties.

The old adage, "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is" holds true with scams. If it seems to easy than it likely is. As for SEO and SEM marketers, as in any industry, there are ones who will truly help your efforts and others that will rob you blind. Again common sense is going to be your best defense as jmoe
