Well, it depends on the product or service you aim to market!

Are you after random traffic or targetted traffic? You could probably opt for several ways on this check list.
Free methods:
Submission to SE's and directories
Article marketing
Email campaign
Forums, blogs and board postings
Social Bookmarking
Etc. etc.
Premium ways: (Should require a budget)
Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
Targetted Link backs
Professional SEO services
Ad spaces
Offline campaigns
Etc. etc.
Random and unique traffic is good to any site but getting targetted traffic is what makes the difference. This kind of traffic yields the highest conversion which would determine your site's success.
Given a budget, I would always opt for PayPerClick. PPC is a very effective way of getting targetted traffic given the proper treatment. Identify your niche and select the market you want to cater to and start from there. Research also on the keywords your desired market would most likely be looking for. IMO, one should be more focused on getting targetted traffic than just page views. Buying targetted link backs are also effective at getting targetted traffic. It really all boils down to what your site offers to your traffic
Another great way of targetting your desired audience is through forum posting on similar niche with your link on your signature. What I like about forum posting is that it is totally free.
Best of luck!

Hi there,
I would suggest www.traffictesters.com
It's a company that test advertising resources. Some are recommended, some are not.
They also offer a traffic co-op, very affordable, with the advertising sites that deliver traffics and make results.

Use Google Adwords. They are a trusted company and if used correctly will bring you the best targeted traffic than can be converted into sales.

Hmm! Can anyone suggest me the best keywords for Google Adwords?
I want to advertise my site with Google Adwords... A Dating Site and A Video CV site...
Which keywords do you suggest for "Dating Site" and "Video CV" site?
I have also another question:
I want to spend more than $15.000 USD for advertisement. What do you suggest? I mean I want to get really high traffic (more than 5000 visitors a day) to my websites... So, can you suggest the best advertisement plan to me for get a best result?
Can you suggest to me websites that I can get the best advertisement solution?

Yes, maybe I jumped too fast with the gun. I'm an affiliate member of this site but probably due to policies and rules in forums, I could not put my own affiliate link in any post...

You could use keyword research tools ( search for it on Google ). These tools would suggest you of what keywords in particular niches are most searched.

You could also look at our advertisement forums for reference on advertising offers from PPC, banners, text links, etc. I am sure you would find advertising companies that will meet your requirements there

I know there is a new internet marketing company called Hypedrive. They offer online word of mouth marketing. They have a network employees including bloggers, social networkers and people who talk on companies behalf. It seems to be a more direct approach rather than using spam or doing seo. They find your target markket and speak with them. I have read up on them and heard some press on the radio and on some business webcasts. I know everyone on here is suggesting seo, but this approach seems to be more of marketing rather than just having the right words on your website. Even a company like payperpost who does I think just blogs can beneficial. I just think when peoples suggestions only involve seo, adwords ,spam, and banners, they are not being very creative , Seo is not marketing its indexing, your just gettting the people who know what they want and not trying to tap into consumers unrealized needs. If you are into marketing and all you can suggest is SEO, then maybe you need to get into another field, creativity and innovation is what businesses need to succed online. I know its sounds like Im bashing SEO , SEO is great and possibly a neccesity but lets think of new ways not just repeating what everyone already knows.
