ok- let's say you have great content- lots of it and are constantly adding more unique and great content but still the visit numbers are low- how do you improve your traffic numbers?

Let's say you are bogging, social marketing, linking, emailing, talking in forums, articles, press releases, ect, ect... yet numbers never grow- past a certain point.

Let's say 40% of your traffic is direct traffic and let's say 33% of your visitors are loyal visitors...yet your traffic numbers just remain at a certain level and don't seem to grow upward. Your site Pr and alexa seems to show it's gained -but you are still playing in the game with 500-900 visitors a week.

It's as if all your working to to keep your little number from going away. I would say it might be a bad site- but loyalty has always been high. I'd say it needs more fresh content- but loyalty remains and time on site is 20+ minutes with over 3-5% of visitors. I'd say needs more links?? but links continue to grow on their own very nice.... ok- I don't know what to say- any clues?

Well- I guess one might say- give it time- how's nine years for giving it time?

That's very common question but still a very interesting question. You can get a lot of visitors of if you a good content and that's the number one key to attract your visitors and it is more relevant to your site as well.

What's the secret to getting LOTS of people to your website?

Hi LauraT,

Traffic has a lot to do with the way your WebPages are written. Your pages should be written to increase accessibility which also increases searches engine optimization. Some times it’s easier to say what not to do then what to do.

Separate your content from structure by using external css and JavaScript files. Take your images off your WebPages and verify nice content with css turned off. Use proper (x)html tags and allow your pages to work with 60 inch monitors and iphones.

Have links going to and from your WebPages and customize meta objects on each page. Constantly promote your site.
