Good forums aren't afraid off siggy links or referal URLS in advert sections.

Then again to many post of the same topic may tank SEO. I posted a reply to a Blog and I lost two forum threads that had #2 and #4 SEO slots.

Didn't even include any URL in the post to the blog responce. Did mention that I had found it searching traffic troll vs traffic bunnie.

The Blog asserted that it is unethical to creat controversy to troll for traffic yet with it's very verbage was doing just this.

I found it funny and may have tanked some good SEO.
Could be coquedence(sp?) on the google update. But for both the Blog and my forum strands to tank all at once?

Sometimes the S in S E O stands for Sup rize. Gap in sup gap rize was/is intentional.

Google gives emphasis to quality links, meaning links from relevant site. We all know that Google calculate PR through quality links.

Well, devalue means that the credit given to your site will be minimal, but it can't be negative (at most it will be 0) otherwise people would put links for competitors sites to give them negative credits ....

so in light of this ... every link is worth something ... just don't get caught buying links for PR ... that is what Big Brother G says lately ...

my best advice for free marketing? article marketing. get yourself some articles written (or write them yourself) and distribute them on all the article directories out there. its the best form of free advertising in my opinion, and its long term advertising. as people use your article on their site, your link stays at the bottom of it so providing yoru articles are good, your getting constrant promotion without doing any more work then originally getting the aritcle written and distributed

Forum posting is extremely effective for targeted traffic. So is blog posting. And maybe you should look into Traffic exchanges.

You can submit your website to directories (free ones). You can join some popular blog rolls (usually you find these on forums and these are generally free to join). Apart from the above having your sites link in your signatures in different good forums like this one or DP, etc. is another very good idea of promoting your site. You can also request link exchange with other related sites.. hope this should help..

Try advertising, social bookmarking sites, web directories, blogs, link exchanges etc. But at first make sure that your website is of a high quality.

I just stumbled onto the Bravenet forums. Talk about a target-rich environment! They keep a directory of forums that lasts forever--even after the website that started it has gone belly up. They're doing it for the free advertising and we can cash in on it.

Their directory is categorized, so you can target your promotional campaign. The default is to allow HTML, so you can set up a boilerplate and just keep pasting it in. Their form remembers everything you type in, so you can just keep double-clicking to fill in the blanks as you move from site to site.

Many of these forums were just set up and forgotten, so they only have a couple of posts in them. They probably don't get much traffic, but they're free, easy, and quick--you don't even have to register. I've hit at least 25 forums already, today, all related to my site, and the total available to me is over 1700. I have no idea if this will pay off, but there's certainly nothing to lose.

Don't overlook your own image tags. If your site has some great photos that relate to your keywords, load up the image tags. Even if they don't relate, put your site name in the tag. When people are searching for visuals, they use the "images" search option on Google. Those results come from your image tags. Make your first 2 words count--that's about all that shows up in the search results.
