you could make some sort of amature video of somebody drinking your energy drink, then them taking part in some seriously energy-intensive sport, or turns hyperactive. make it comical and funny, then post that on your website and on youtube.
just an idea

Energy drink has a growth in demand for consumers want a healtier lifestyle. There is a lot of competition on the energy drinks and the consumers is much aware on the effects if they drink it. Usually the market categorized into two: if is for sport nutrition and professional athletes and it must have a revitalising ingredients for adult and children. The marketing strategies that you should do is through using of
coupons, leaflets, posters and free taste.

Rev it up - Adobe Illistrator CS at work book
I recently read a book about Illistrator software by Pariah S. Burke. The book gave tasks about using the photo image software to promote a energy drink. Check out www.iampariah.com and/or www.revdrink.com

Its a big market with some good competition. I have seen Monster offers free drinks at street corners. I tried and started buying it.

Defiantly try to sponsor your local radio evens, if not the sponsor be a sponsor. You MUST have it sold at all your local gas stations. I'm not completely sure as to how you would go about doing that but you must start with the owner of the franchises. Meet with them, give them free sample.
Free giveaways at local highschool sports games and what not. When doing giveaways get those little things that stick to the side of the can/bottle that you can peel of with a web address and a contest/prize for entering/saving bottle caps.
Honestly, just look at what the others do, combine it with what the regular soft drinks do, then do it better. You have to be everywhere. For now, maybe you can gear it to your area's or your town's "official soft drink".

Target it to young generation. Make the price more "friendly" and appeal soda cans with bright and light colors.

Great input. I forgot completely about age groups...a big up for your product if you do it right.

If you go to the local schools, that would be your best place to market to younger generation!

dont bother setting up your own distribution channels, thats just a waste of energy.
Find distribution companies and have them distribute your product for you. At the end of the day if your budget is small jsut having the drinks on the shelf is going to be your best bet.
Especially if your contracts stipulate that the shop owners have to buy the drinks up front.
Remember it goes
Manufacturer > Warehouse > Distributor > Retail Shop > Customer
Dont jump the train just do your part and pass your drinks on.
Im assuming you have the drink already made and in the can? if not, sell the forumla to larger company with the production / marketing / distribution channels and just keep 15%, after 12 months your 15% will be worth 1000x more than if you keep 100% and try do it yourself.

Have you advertised to the retail locations? Have you considered direct data to accomplish this end? Also, you could provide coupons that you could send directly to your target demographic!

I saw a show and they were marketing their energy drink with a hummer truck and girls in bikinis with logos printed on the butt.
They marketed in Southern California and targeted 20-40 year old males. It seemed like it worked, I don't know that for sure, but it sure attracted a lot of attention.
