Forget about making money online for a while, read the forums, create a website or a blog about the subject you love, once you start to get siome consistent traffic, you would have learned enough to know how to monetize that traffic.

It really depends on which site you are trying to market. you can hang round in webmaster forums, to get few tips. Internet marketing is all about the more you put in the more you'll get out.
You need to dedicate yourself to serious education over aperiod of time, its could be achieved by attending seminars, buying books...

No catch, you create a useful website, get teraffic to your sites, put adsense units on your web pages, you site visitors see the adsense units, if they are interested in any of the ads being displayed they click the ad and google pays you a percentage of money it charges from the advertiser, the bigger your site gets the bigger that percentage gets.

i've placed google adsense in my many blogs before 4 months from only 1 adsense acct and i've earned 24$, & as per google adsense policy i ll get that money after completion 100$ in my acct.
