Tips for promoting my site

I have www.dizzynights.com and I have submitted to a few directories, and I go in forums like mine and post good things with links, but my traffic is not increasing. Any tips and tricks? Or any ideas for offline promos, I'm thinking matchbooks at Aussie bars, and mouse pads and internet cafes, something along those lines...or anything else for that matter!
Best regards,
Casey

I've had success with posting in related forums... not being pushy... just being there with a link in my sig. As soon as I started doing that, my traffic tripled (small amount of traffic before, but it has helped for sure!)

cool site you have there. have you thought of link exchanging with similar websites? that is one of the best ways to get some good traffic plus boosting your site ranking on search engines.

Very nice site. What optimization are you doing? I see no backlinks to the site. Start with that.

One thing I would suggest off topic is to shorten http://www.dizzynights.com/phpBB-2.0.6/Forum
to something like http://www.dizzynights.com/forum

just a sugestion.

Good suggestions James. As for the main site you are going to have to be patient. It will come if you provide good content. It just takes time. Get your links do your homework on increasing your link popularity. You've started off on the right foot by submitting to directories. Check out our list of directories for a plethora of top directories and niche directories.

you can use css to change the size of the text, but you may want to use a header at the top of the text with your keywords in it and also place your primary keywords at the beginning of the title.

if you can afford to spend a small amount then start a google adwords account and target the right terms "australian backpacker forum" and bunches of phrases around that keyword space.

as people create posts it creates content for you which can be picked up in search engines and listed to draw in more traffic.

i have one blog that is getting hundreds of hits a day which consists of just about nothing other than what other people are posting into it. I believe it is worth it to spend a little off the start to try to bring the right type of people into your forums. after you reach critical mass then you can ease off, but a small investment can go a long way.

(I have never had a forum of my own, but I think what I am saying sounds logical to me, and should work to help promote your forums...)
