perhaps organise contests (i.e. best wordpress template design by member and let member cast vote, you give prize), initiate join effort projects (i.e. team up members and create widgets etc. the team gets sponsorship from forum and represent the forum in the other online contest)

why not build more links. it will definitely help in your serp ranking.
"webmaster forum" is a pretty hard keyword/phrase to rank though.
