Face book to advertize?

Hello,
I have never use Face Book. I have read that it could be a way to let people know about my site.
Do you think I could set-up an account for my website only? would Face Book accept this kind of advertizing? is there a better way to use face book to advertize?

thank you

Facebook is designed to create/mirror networks of people. You could create a profile for your webpage, however, that is not what it is designed for. Instead, you would be better off creating a profile for yourself and including information about your website. From there, you can start building a social network which leads to increased exposure and credibility for you and by proximity, your website.

If you still wish to take a more ad-centric approach, Facebook fliers are an affordable option. They allow you to target your ads to groups of people, however, I know little about their effectiveness.

Social networks rarely work for promotional purposes in the way you are thinking and usually get banned or deleted sooner or later.

Your company or personal account will not generate much traffic beyond 1 time lookers. Unless you are a famous comedian or model that gets a bunch of stalker fans.

I have purchased ad space on these before with poor CTR. Most people use these as tools like email and rarely click on ads. That is my experience at least

If you have an outrageous website with a message such as celebrity scandals or bizzare photos, you may be able to pull it off since that's what people click on. But most of us have moderate e-commerce websites and casual everyday blogs - which are not really attention-grabbing.

Social networking advertising....

Some of the popular social networking sites (ie myspace, facebook) have turned into a porn palace. The majority of the individuals that are doing their business are the online webcam girls, etc. Now there are a couple of legit online advertisers which have been there since the myspace craze took off.

As for the two that were listed above you would have better luck with some of the newer social networking sites. Or if you are die hard on working with myspace or facebook here is what I would suggest.

It is kindda in the grey area but if you are in it to make the money and nothing else, I have heard of people creating about 10 - 20 different profiles and linking them all together to a main profile. Then what the idea behind it is that you blatently spam people with the minor profiles to other people and then with your spamming tactics direct them to your main profile in a way that is not really spam. I have never done this tactic before, however I have heard that the results are fantastic.

My best advice that I could give is that you just do a search in either a search engine or a website directory for the niche network you would like to get involved with and then start to make a reputable name for yourself. It will not happen over night. But when it does happen you can take the pride and pleasure that you did it by being you.

I hope that this helps you out.

Sincerely,

Jason Conway

To get considerable success in facebook I think you should build a strong network there and use their marketplace and wall post feature that will help you to promote your products somehow.

FaceBook is really a good place to advertise but you must make some free deals and it all depends on the content of your website (not necessarily porn).

Create a personal profile and invite your friends and people who already visit your website or forum.
Create a group with the name of your website and invite all your friends. Most of them will join feeling the need to help you. Some will want to help more and they will invite their friends.
Try to keep your group interesting so that other people will invite their own friends.

To get a better result, it is better to use a girl's profile and add people you don't know. I bet 75% of the people whom you've added will accept the friend request. Then create your website group and invite them in.

Setting up a fun application in facebook would be a good step too but always link to your website. People who add that application will be advertising you indirectly.

Coming to making deals. Find other groups (or even events) which have a similar subject like your website. Let them send your website to all their members and in return put a small banner for them in your website or make a deal of getting them members (which can be done by inviting your friends by 1 click).
We've done a similar deal lately and we have a small banner for their event on our website and in return we are seeing people registering in our forum and becoming active from facebook.
