Well there are various methods.. if you have some budget to spend that would be gr8!

First of all you will need some unique content on the forum. Hire around 10 forum posters to get things get started. You can easily buy a post somewhere around $.10/each.

Also, social bookmarking can help you gain some good backlinks and decent traffic

Firstly, try to be a member in the related forums and invite people from there. You can also use social bookmarking. Make some interesting posts in your forum and then bookmark them in social bookmarking websites. It will be very useful in getting traffic.

First, optimize your site and then promote it. Build more backlinks on it. Joining forums with sigs are a good way to rank your keyword that can drive traffic to your site.
