Suggestions on Marketing a travel website...

I am starting a travel website and am absorbing so much information on how and when to market and am gathering opinions... Anyone have any suggestions or definite no-no's?

It depends what you're trying to do, is this going to be an informative website? are you a travel agent? what's the intent?

This is going to be an informative site that will sell travel as well, attempting to make an online community one stop shop for travelers...it's a building process but as I acquire money I want to invest it in the right places, the site is in it's finishing stages now, and my next move it to add restaurant, bars, clubs database and start from there...

From building online portals and informative websites in the past, my suggestion is that you wait until the site is up, then think about marketing it, SEO is a great place to start, there's a guy on this board who is pretty savvy.

There are three key things you will need
Content
High Keyword Density
Inbound Links

ok I think I have the right content to include within the site...It's going to be a huge work in progress because I do not have the funding to pay for everything now, but once the site is "public" its message is very clear, actually now you can tell what its function is... what do you mean by inbound links? don't understand the term...i'm also building a huge document of "related" words to the site, obviously I have to pic the one's that are going to get the best results...
