Proxy traffic

Hi guys,

I always see proxy sites dotted around DP and they seem to get traffic almost instantaneously when they are set up. What techniques do people use to generate that traffic?

Well the best method to get that instant burst is newsletters and yahoo , google proxy groups. If you haven't created one of these groups then just pay the fee some of the folks charge to advertise on theres. Search for proxy groups and advertise it. Yahoo answers does alright. However only a few will do well during the summer as we have a different target audience then most proxy owners. So summer is an ideal time for owners of proxy sites which have been blocked by the filtering systems can do some SEO on them and keep them alive.

If you use the groups make sure you ask where 80%+ of there traffic comes from.

A lot of that traffic is "auto generated". They set a bot to generate a lot of "traffic" that looks organic and real, but usually isn't. There are a lot of doctored web stats for proxy sites.

Yes and that auto generated traffic is being sold for others and then you pay for the advertising on the such kind web sites. I think if you you want to learn about such not honest way better to visit DP forums. I think that natural traffic - saves your sources and make your developing more organic.

So... Whats the benefit now of having non-organic traffic? That are made from auto-generated bot?

Proxy sites suck. I had a fairly popular one about a year ago and all it did was eat bandwidth, tax my server resources, and provide marginal returns. Also, if you are thinking of starting up, consider the competition...HUGE!

My question is how do you use form proxie site?! I have one with adsense ads on front page and adbirte ads on proxified page but the total income is just around 0,60$/day

And it eats lot's of bandwith... huge really

so ho you really compensate that?

Well if you have logs I would bet you are getting tons of traffic from the middle east and china. You need to incorporate bandwidth mods or edit your settings if your using a script that has it. Depending on your server environment you are using you can either add geoip blocking for the one site or the whole server. As having those 2 locations on your proxy will give you nothing in return. Trade sanctions are in place with those locations so serving ads to them is worthless.

I would recommend this thread though on a different forum it is very informative for new and old proxy owners

I don't see how these sites can make any decent cash. Are most sites only using adsense to generate a return?

Well depends on your definition of decent. My main one covers the costs of 2 dedicated servers my internet bill with some left over. So it pays for its self and I dont have pay any out of pocket fees for my other sites. Adsense gives a good amount but on the proxified pages you can have other networks and I use adbrite and bidvertiser and they do well on those pages.

So if I made other site and got it to were my other one is it would be making pure profit so if I made 3 more I would clear 4 digit passive income all profit. Just I dont have time to manage 4 large sites.

And for direct traffic on setup, get it featured on stumbleupon.com for tag "proxy"

it usually brings me 1000 unique visitors the same day, about 100 returning visitors for a while. then i build from there. Hope this helped

How? Did you buy links from stumbleupon for that or hired people to vote on your site for proxy term?

if the article or site is any good it will usually do okay in stumbleupon - i will submit proxy and hope i get some traffic
