That's still ok. The important things are the results that will come from your images, regardless of how your images get traffic to your site.

Sorry

But I'm a little loss, how do you use these pictures to get traffic and page ranking?

What is the measuring stick for these pictures? Alt tags? Which site are you saying you have success with?

Yes, it bumps your stats nicely (along with eating up a good portion of your bandwidth) but does it do your site any good? Not really.
I think there's a script to prevent hot linking images, so as long as you have it integrated it will do the job nicely.

I'm not overly worried about it. Perhaps one day, one of those image hunters might even stick around for a few minutes. Who knows...

totally agree. doubled our web traffic for a little while a few weeks ago with one pretty picture in our blog that was ranking top 5 for a big keyword for a couple of weeks.

however I would bet lots that not a single one of the visitors had any interest in SEO, they just liked the picture, stayed a few secs, and moved on.

interestingly though the image has dropped away now, but the post itself is still ranking #1 for its targeted phrase where its been since launch, and has had about 1/20th of image hits from from searches related to the phrase.

..ok if you're trying to get them to click adverts, but not much use for anything else.

That's a good example of what I'm talking about. However, creating an image that you wouldn't have to worry about your viewers duplicating, as long as it's in your business's favor would bring you and your business great success. I mean if they can use your image to get customers once they have enrolled into your company's program this would really be very beneficial to them and your business.

It's good to feel that way... when you are just putting your images out without worrying about how much traffic you're gonna receive eventually you'll start getting customers that come from images you forgot about.

Never thought about this myself and was very surprised once when I did a search on Google images and found an image taken from my website. Since I currently have enough bandwidth to spare, I guess I won't worry about it one way or the other. In my case, it's fairly esoteric, so I don't think I'm getting all that much traffic from it.

Sometimes a little Traffic means a lot more than the traffic you are looking for. I mean if your Traffic generates 10 superstars who are responsible for bringing thousands of new customers to your company versus 50 visitors that would be much greater than you expected.

I get a few great quality customers out of 60 visitors rather than 1000 visitors with no results.

Well, the best way is to try it yourself. The cost is very low, due to Free image hosting services and having many places to post them for free online. Also using good banner services. Keep in mind that even though Banner services are cheap you can get tons of customers from quality Eye-Catching Images with your website viewable with with your Images.

Use photo that relevance with your comment and use alt tag to any photos that you attach in your content.

It'll be index by Google photo and any search engine that relevance.
