MY ALEXA RANKING.
My alexa ranking never stop improving since i installed the alexa toolbar and place their widget at the bottom of my site.
Alexa ranking maybe worthless but i value it because it bring my site more traffic.

Alexa ranking... just target people from Korea. For some reason they love to use Alexa and Alexa toolbar. They even use Alexa as search engine

It's not a bad idea to have a good alexa... many merchants/search engines/other online retailers look at alexa as one of the prerequisites

the only thing that sucks about alexa is that it does not rank subdomains,i have several free sites that are subdomains and alexa wont rank them!

I don't think it will help you in your rankings, i think that you should focus more on google to improve your rankings!

Eh, Alexa ratings don't mean much. I mean, my site is 100,000 but compared to a bunch of sites I know get more traffic, it doesn't say much.

I think I get extra benefit from the Link Juice of being in the Top Ten of a Regional Category (Sacramento - California - USA). I see FOUR extra links counted in the GWT External Links tally, and that is definitely more than when I only had ONE (and not in the regional 10).
Alexa ranking, in & of itself, doesn't really do much. OTOH, its a valuable tool that can help validate LINKS which are (eventually) tallied by Google. There is a certain synergy of being in the DMOZ, Alexa, and Google Directory, which completely obliterates any necessity for being in the Yahoo Directory.
Alexa is a good SEO building tool, and nothing more.

Yes, installing the widget on your site helps your Alexa ranking within Alexa. It does however in no way bring you additional traffic. Don't expect the rankings to help continuously, it's only temporary.
It's true that Alexa is inaccurate, however it's as close as it gets for counting traffic from an external basis. Saying that Alexa has no weight is non-sense, it's still an important measuring stick for many reputable site buyers. In comparison with sites like Compete & variant, it's far more accurate overall.

Alexa rank is very important if you sell advertising or banner spots in your website, 99% of advertisers will check your alexa rank before paying for any advertising.

Yes buddy... mine is 140K, my target next week for alexa is 120K.. it was 159k last week.. Though alexa is not a big deal, anyhow it increases motivation. |

There are always ways to manipulate Alexa ratings too... it's not hard either and it has nothing to do with adding the toolbar or their widget either  |
