Getting New Clients

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and new to this business. My husband and I started our SEO and Website Marketing business a few months ago. He has charged me with finding new clients since I love to talk. My problem is that I am not good at talking with new people much less searching them down.

How do you find your new clients? How do you approach them (i.e. via phone, email, letter, etc)?

I appreciate all the help you can give me. Thanks in advance.

We've started doing that

Thank you for your reply. We have started doing that. We are up in the search engines for several phrases (at least we think they are good phrases). Our website is being viewed by 20+ unique visitors a day, but so far no one has contacted us. I guess it just takes time.

20 uniques may not be much, but if it's targeted traffic it's a start.

Back when I was doing SEO, I got most of my clients from word of mouth (referred by other existing clients) or from SEO forums such as these. I think it's extremely important to have a good portfolio of client sites which are ranked for competitive keywords. That would be the single most important thing IMO.

Word of mouth had paid off for us also. I remember when we were struggling to get our first client, took weeks. Once we achieved with them though, they told people about us.

One thing I learn't is that - if your good, and you really can get results - you'll never be out of work.

Hey

I get most of my clients programming through word of mouth. With so many SEO sites out there (and programming sites with me), word of mouth gets the best results. I find that most people will goto someone they are told about first, and then to someone with a big portfolio on their site. I really don't have much of a portfolio on my site, because I'm too busy with clients who tell others about me ;-)
