Spam list question

hi there,

do you know where i can find a list with words that might be considered spam on an email subject? we are sending emails to a client list that previously agreed to receive notifications from us; the thing is that we think that a percentage of the emails we send can go straight to their spam folder (specially in web mails such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.).

i would like to know if there is a sort of check list about words that we should not be included in our email subject because it might be considered spam. for instance, i guess that words such as free, bargain or price numbers on a subject might be considered spam by some servers...
have any of you checked this point and reach to any conclusions?

thanks.

If they mark your emails as 'not spam' and you have an opt-in there still shouldn't be a problem. As for that list I'm really not for sure.

If they had previously agreed and now they don't agree then I believe that you shouldn't send them emails and spam their inboxes.

no, this is not a spam list at all. all emails we send are for our clients that have previously agreed to receive them and we include a opt-in / opt-out line for them to unsubscribe if they want.
the thing is that some of them report us that they do not receive our emails and I assume that their spam filter has something to do with it. we recommende to mark our emails as not spam but not everybody knows how to do it. so, i guess there must be a few guideline so that the mail servers do not consider an as spam and therefore they do not send it to the spam folder.
i know that if you include the word "Free" in your subject your email is very likely to be considered spam (regardless the recipient has agreed to receive it). my question is if somebody has made some research about it. there must be a black list with words that should not be used.

I don't think the words are what's considered spam. Instead, it's the nature of how the e-mail is constructed.

Different e-mail has their own version of screening to distinguish regular mails from spam mails, so even if you find out one of them you really have to look at each of them separately. Good luck with that.

There are certainly words and phrases that will trigger spam filters. Some are highlighted at this link:

Also remember to provide instructions to your subscribers on how they can 'whitelist' your email account.
