How much...
How much could I get for ad space on a site with a PR5, 130000+ hits , and well over a thousand uniques each month?

Would imagine a 5 to $10 CPM ... to start, depending on banner location.
Once you get a few satisfied customers under your belt ... you could raise the rates accordingly.

Really? I thought I had a ways to go... maybe I should look into selling ad space on my site already... I got about 2500 uniques last month, PR5... not sure about hits... does that really matter anyways?

You may be better off selling text links.

I get about 500 uniques a day ... from my main page, alone ... and feel that revenue sharing programs are worth more at this stage (IMHO).
Maybe when I get up to John's level, I'll think about selling ad space.
Images, etc., trigger hits ... so I don't think hits can be reliably counted as a gauge to measure site popularity.

Have you tried content relevant revenue sharing programs?
Identifying and satisfying the specific needs and desires of the target group of individuals that visit your site, with affiliate based product/service offers?

CPM really varies with the type of audience. If you had 1,000 monthly uniques from CTO's of Global 2000 companies, I'd be willing to pay a whole hell of a lot more than I would for 1,000 generic (horizontal) uniques.
It's not just about traffic; it's about the quality of that traffic as well.

You might look into an affiate program that is highly targeted and has potential to convert well.

Adsense. The adsense program pays very well. Plus the ads will be relevant to your material.

Adsense really is an easy solution. Finding advertisers is tough - Adsense takes all the headache away. But for high traffic sites, banner ads can do a lot better. Adsense can be so cheap, it's really frustrating.

I also have a PR5, 130000+ hits / day , and more than 2000 uniques each day, and I win less than five bucks a day with AdSense
Try www.tradedoubler.com , you can choose your own programs.
