Making money - Norms about $ / visitor

I'm looking for some ideas on what is a good amount of money to make from advertising.

(OK, skip the jokes about ALOT)

Specifically, in a field like education, how much should I site be able to make per visitor. Is $.01 good or bad if I'm relying on ad networks, google ads and affiliate programs?

The ad networks talk about $2.50 CPM (I guess that means per thousand impressions which would mean $.0025 per impression). So if each visitor generated four impressions, does that mean $.01 per visitor?

CPM are uniques, just one per visitor in a period of time (24 or 48 hrs) and from certain countries only.

Second question. If I put up three banners (say one across the top and one down each side), each one paying $2.50 per CPM, then I should be making $7.50 CPM, right?

Or do the networks somehow insist that they are the only one on the page.

Next question: Any idea of great CPM networks for sites that are for kids education?

If you're going after the education niche, you're best monetization bet is to go for lead generation CPA.
There's plenty of stuff for scholarships, and also just college applications.
I think there's also some PPS stuff for text books, but I can't remember which network had that. CJ I think.

I bet it's better to be paid for clicks, like Adsense program. You can earn also on sales.
Pay attention to Amazon, they offer a wide range products for educational needs.
