New guy, not much experience

Hey all, my name is Tyler and I am new to the forum ... actually just landed on it via Google a few hours ago. Have had a chance to do a little exploring, seems like some really great resources here.

I have been reading more about wordpress over the past few days and would be interested in trying to implement a wordpress blog, using the .org software, not the free and easy one that they manage for you.

However, like I said, I don't know much of anything about creating websites. My extent thus far is using website builders that basically do it all for you!

I was perusing the forum and saw a whole bunch of wordpress templates available for download. My question would be, once I download those, how do I actually get it up and running and add my own text ect. I do have a domain and a hosting account chosen already so I am ready on that end.

Any info would be appreciated, I am sure I will have more questions to follow but thanks in advance for the help getting started!

Welcome to the forums.

WordPress can be auto installed on your domain name by every control panel I have ever tested. That is the 100% painless way to do it.

When picking a theme be sure to pick one that works with the WP version you installed. Most of them are simple to use. You just select the theme you eant from your WP dashboard. A few require minor mods to some of the scripts and are best avoided by a complete newbie.

Try to pick the correct forum for any followup questions.
