Old - New and Dead Into It
But then I have to be DeadIntoIt.
If I'm not I don't eat.
I lost 2 large contracts due to companies going BK in this resession(?), I panicked, fret, picked myself up and dusted my brain off and figured; "Hey I did it before (Making a living doing web dev), I can do it again. hmmm; (Maybe easier said than done) . . . .
So I've been down this Freelance Web Development garden path a number of times. However, every time I start over again the landscape of the whole Freelancing picture seems to have changed radically.
The last time I put myself on the market there was no such thing as Micro-blogging like on Twitter, and Social Networking Sites weren't even all that big of a deal.
So yep, it has been a while. And yes I know I need my butt kicked for setting on my laurels riding the 2 big maintenance contracts train. But together they did make for a full time job. Still know excuse I guess. Anyway . . .
I find myself setting here in San Diego wondering how to get some work.
Yes I know there are job boards etc. but after taking a look at some of those, it seems a daunting task to compete with the literally hundreds of thousands already there.
So I'm here to learn how to get back on the horse and ride again.
The whole "Old Dog and New Tricks" adage certainly applies to me.
So if there are any other old hands that are getting back at the whole Freelance Web Development drill again, I'd like to hear from you.
Just PM me. I'm obviously open to any suggestions, Co-op deals or just idea exchanges.
So I'm glad to be here and hope to listen, learn and share ideas, tools, toys and tips.
Thanks for reading my "Howdy yall" post.

It's an absolute pleasure to meet you. With an introduction like that, I have no doubt you are gonna rebuild your career in a heartbeat.
So just curious, do you make coffee?

Thanks for the kind words Cricket.
. . . and Coffee? I make coffee every night and set the timer for my wife to have fresh coffee in the :am.
As for me; I have mine trucked in
. . . and if your question was a cryptic way of asking if I write JAVA Code (Strange that Cricket question), I have that trucked in as well
Now here is P.S. for you: How many posts does one have to make in this forum before they can have a BB Coded link in their sigfile or post with pics in a post. Just curious.
Thanks again for the vote of confidence.

ROFL. Hey DIT. Good intro. Beats the heck outta "Hi... I'm a newbie at V7, it's nice to meet you." [Wait, that may have actually been MY intro.]
Web changes, but that's actually a good thing. Change opens up opportunity for new entries and keeps the entrenched guys from owning the whole thing. Sounds like you'll do well. Good luck with the re-entry into freelance mode.
By the way... fwiw, though it isnt yet apparent why, the coffee comment above was high praise.

And so now you both have me wondering about the coffee comment. High Praise? OK ... excellent!
Let me get out my Flash Gordon Super Decoder Ring and decipher "Do I make coffee"?
Let's see here - nope nothing from the decoder ring. Moving right along to my CIA Spooks Manual - ok let's see here.
Under "Code Word Greetings and Replies we have under Coffee:
- Coffee - 1 lump or 2? | Reply: only 3 in the summer time
> Receives: Directions to Bill Gates pile of Gold Bars
- Coffee - Do you take it black? | Reply: yes but only tepid not hot
> Receives: Directions to maiden in PC distress (Alrighty then)
- Coffee - Do you make coffee? | Reply: no I have it trucked in
> Receives: Keys to V7n's secret location where they keep all their clients held hostage
KEWL! Do I get my keys now

Thanks for the link. Actually I was already there but being the Internet spoiled brat with quick scanning eyes and always wanting what I need to just pop right out at me - well . . . yes I missed it.
But what about putting pics in your posts. I tried to put in a pic of my coffee truck backing up to the house but it wouldn't take using the BB code. Same 50 post rule there too?
I don't want to assume anything.

If you mean pictures in your posts, you have already done that in an earlier post, so I assume you know how. Now if you mean pics in your signature, we do not allow that regardless of the number of posts a member has.
In time you will understand the coffee comment.
