Not a new member but it's been a while

I'm not a new member but as it looks like I've rarely posted here in a decade I thought I would say hi again

I'm based in UK, started in SEO in 2001, took part in the early SEO competitions, have numerous of my own little sites scattered around but not really done much for a number of years.

Just popping in to see if there are many discussions going on and to see if I recognise any old names.

I'm in the same boat as you today ... I've only been browsing forums because i launched a new portfolio website today to sell paintings. I've been out of the loop for a while now and the main thing i notice is that Social Media is making the static web all but obsolete.

Things have certainly changed a lot in the past decade - not sure if for the better though

Everywhere we go we are bombarded by adverts and marketing message.

Even worse is the personalization - I thought they were supposed to switch the personalization down on the lead up to Christmas, you have to be so careful on a family PC when buying presents or the next member of the family using the PC can easily work out what you have bought them

The SEO side of things seems quieter now, with so many other places where search is available organic rankings have less and less value.

Glad I'm out of it really.
