Newbie from Surf City USA
I stumbled upon this site and forum, been glued to it for hours. No other forum interested me enough to join, so maybe I found what I was looking for! I am from Huntington Beach, California AKA The Official "Surf City USA" by court ruling (I won't name the losers, they know who they aren't). For those who can relate, Jan and Dean, The Beach Boys and others grew up in this area and made it known as the Surfing Capital of the World. Since we all Surf the Web, I thought I would throw in some surfing trivia. Why? I keep wondering how it became known as "Surfing the Web" when the Internet was first marketed as "The Information Super-Highway", why don't we drive it? Fair question? Computers need drives to store information and drivers need to be installed to make it run. Is it just me? Was it the over-hype of Information Super-Highway or too intimidating to the public, maybe over-marketing? Did modern day Beach Boys make the Internet more hip? Do you know?
Don't worry, I'm not really strange!
