You could literally start a web business with no more than $15 a month and that's just to pay the hosting fee. There are free mailing list services, like at bravenet.com and free methods of creating web traffic (article writing) that can allow to spend very little on business expenses. You can become an affiliate for another company and never worry about storing product. You can learn how to become an affiliate and how to generate web traffic for free at [REMOVED].

Ummm,
What about your internet service? Computer maintenance/upgrades? Accountant costs? Rent? Accounting software/or paper for manual accounting? Paper for records? etc.

That was the point of starting this thread. To get people to really think about how much it really costs to run a business.

i would recommend you to join insurance companies and signup for various policies offered by them. (or) you can become an agent offering credit cards/personal/mortgage loans etc.,

because this takes little investment. a small office or work from home is enough. a cell phone with a life time validity and good amount of money to make calls.

you can start from scratch and then you can think of other businesses after you get a small circle of customers say 10,000 in a year.

because due to inexperience i lost more than 60,000$ in a span of 10 years in my ad agency business. though i had good manpower, creativity, technology, competition from unorganised sector killed my business!

Depending on the nature and size of the business one is looking to start, the amount of capital needed for the initial investment vary greatly.
I'm looking to start making money online via selling some accessories online, my initial investment on buying some goods is around 100 pounds.

Letīs see what Iīm paying for my Business (Itīs quite new about 3 month)

Domain name 9$ per year!
Unselfish Marketer: 47.00$ per month!
(contains: 100 Autoresponder, 3GB webspace on super fast servers, 200 unrestricted PLR articles per month, a fresh PLR or RSR product every second day, a high paying affiliate network (90%), free Access 3 high end CMS systems, a free copie of Keyword Elite and much much more....)

So you see a little bit more than 50$ is enough (for me)

It's actually shocking at how different the capital requirements are in setting up an online and offline business. Often, an offline business can cost hundreds of thousands to set-up, what with the cost of buying into a Franchise (if you go that way), real estate/equipment costs/stock etc.

An online business can literally be started on a shoestring budget - frankly, you still need funds to make it big (aside from the tiny investment for the domain/host) things like proper scripts to make your site good, advertising to get your brand out there (etc).

But, there is just no comparison between online and offline...the smart money's coming online these days.

Yes, its true. But some online businesses do not need much investment [money]. For example, if a person wants to start a blog in some Niche, then that can be done wothout paying any money at all. A person can get that blog for free at blogspot.

Depends on what your goals are. You don't need much capital to make a bunch of adsense blogs, just time. If you want to build a million dollar advertising agency, you will need more capital to float the costs of your employees, office, etc.

I have had my hand in business of one kind or another for over fifty years.

Both models fail or succeed. Big bucks with wrong product and bad management = crash..
Small dollars, good product and hard working management = success
I have built a couple small businesses with limited start up money, busted my.. uh.. worked hard and did pretty well.

To start an internet business you must first realize that it will take YOUR time to build. OR money. If funds are limited and you really want to build for the future, give up something.
Replace one of your time and money consuming hobbies. Convert those assets to your business. Learn how to do it and build.
How much time and money do you spend now on fun stuff?
Give some to your future.

Startup costs

Starting an online business can be reasonable if you look hard enough for the best price. Zoom, com is a great place to start. It's the cheapest way I found to incorporate.
