Well first of you should start out with some SEO. It will not have any effect over the first couple of days, but it is a good long term.

Also: (These can have effect right away...)
Posting topics with your link on different forum would help alot.

For a new online business, I would start with Adwords that will bring instant traffic. While you are doing PPC, have an link campaign and write articles.

Pay Per Click is definitely the fastest way to generate targeted traffic that wants to buy your product and make money, which I assume is your goal. But, as others have said, you can easily burn though a LOT of money with little or nothing to show for it. The absolute best PPC training is from Perry Belcher called www.GetMoneyFromGoogle.com (this is NOT an affiliate link). It's the best $27 you'll ever spend. The value on this is incredible. Good luck with the new site.

Not at all, you simply need to insert the script into your webpage. You can get the script from the company. Its upto you, how much percentage you wish to pay to your affiliates.

all the affiliate networks I have seen want several hundred dollar set up fee's which I am hesitant to shell out if they end up sucking or my product not doing well. shareasale wants like close to 300 buck I think to set up a merchant account. I looked into paydot.com but they want you to sell your own products on your website using your own affiliate link or whatever before they will list your product in thier market place which means they would get a cut of those sales I think before my product even gets to affiliates, if I understood them right...thier site confuses me so I gave up trying to promote my own products with them but instead promote a few other peoples stuff and will see what happens.

Don't forget to market your online business offline too! Sometimes people get so wrapped up in their online business that they forget about the offline, untapped market.

I'd suggest that you go very local with your particular niche - get a list of business in close proximity to you, and check if they have websites - if not, send them an email about your services - try customise it a little so that it's relevant to their business.

Also, if they do have website check whether their site is optimized and if not, see if you can use that to get your foot in the door.

Place a classified ad in your local newspaper, or submit a PR article to them about your company and how you'd like to see all businesses in the local area making full use of the internet... something along those lines.

Good luck!

If you are looking to set up a merchant account on your website, you need to contact them directly. Most of the reputed and highly trusted one's do not charge for setting up the account, instead there would be some charge for each transaction thats done using their gateway.Merchants such as Google Checkout,2Checkout,PayPal are widely popular and reputed due to the level of trust. You want to contact them and get a script that can be integrated into your webpage.

Hi,

As you build up your website with more quality keyword rich content, search engine will crawl your website and you will then get targeted traffic. Pay per click marketing is effective if you have the budget. Try the free way such as forum signature, social bookmarking, article submission, link exchange, and other ways to build up backlinks.

A good way to promote your business, be it on-line or not, is to register it in as many directories as possible. There are a lot of them on the web.
I've recently found an interesting web-site where the enterprises rank each other according to their liability, respect for payment death lines, and so on.
Is: company-info.biz
The site is pretty new, but I think it would become very useful to be part of it.
