Making good first impressions
To win the hearts of a potential customer, you must pour your energy initially on getting their confidence. Do not think much about making the sale. Focus more on your performance. Offer them good, quality service. Go after their satisfaction first. When you are able to win their satisfaction, they will become your valued regular customers.

Developing a relationship with your visitors will generally result in them becoming regular visitors and eventually customers....
Quality content and quality service are both essential elements to start the process...

Making good first impressions
I agree with ProMarkete. First of all we should win the trust of our customer then we should try to sell our products.

It is Key to make a great first impression with your viewers in order to be successful which i agree. Before one can make a site or blog you have to "pour" your passions and expressions into the content in order to express to your veiwers your emotions and goals.

Yeah, all this is very true! The key to success and good sales is in paying more attantion to your customers. We probably more should forget about own profit and show that you care only about custome's pleasure. Of course, one can say that it is dirty double game, but if you sign up to this game - follow its rules and develop own strategies.
Good luck, everybody!

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with this one.
How can you focus on customer satisfaction until you have their business? If you are speaking to, or visiting a customer as a salesman, then they expect you to sell, as long as you can identify a genuine requirement and can fulfill it, plus you do so professionally and with integrity, there is no shame in selling from the outset.

You are right, two years ago when I started in the IM world I didn't pay much attention to this, but now I realize how much difference can it make. Today I spend more time writing my content and worry more about their quality

Seven Things You Never Want To Say To A Potential Customer
Well, let's just make sure we do not do what is mentioned in this blog post.
Quote:
Unless your goal is to scare potential customers away, never say these seven things to them.
1. Never say to a potential customer: We don’t accept credit cards – Your customers expect you to accept credit cards – when you tell them you can’t – you immediately disappoint them and give them a big reason not do business with you!
These days, most businesses do qualify for a merchant account from their bank or at the very least qualify to open a WorldPay account. (We’ll cover that in another article.)
Bottom line – you are not really in business unless you can accept credit card payments.
2. Never say to a potential customer: Please allow 28 days for delivery- When your customers are ready to buy, they usually want the product immediately.
If you tell potential customers they have to wait 28 days before they can get the product, most will go somewhere else to buy. Even if...

Basically you just need to be honest and up front with the customer. A happy customer is a customer who will return to do more business with you and might even tell there friends or clients about your business.
