Early today I almost lose hope in recovering all my members data for my business list. Good thing I jotted some of my members list on my record book. whew! that saved half of my work for today.

I think losing data and getting hacked would be my worst fear as an online business owner.

My two greatest fears are firstly making a steady income, one that can support my family. The second is getting everything done such as SEO work and worrying if im doing enough and doing it well. When you do all the work yourself its hard to turn off at the end of the day.

My greatest fear is putting myself out there. And subsequently, fear of failure. I’m usually not very talkative and I’m more reserved. But on the net you have to be more “social”.
Getting hacked is the least of my worries.

That could be another thread topic. If there is not a thread created about this yet then please create the thread. For now, let's keep this thread on topic.

Thanks

The biggest issue is being sued by morons and the client. That is my biggest problem...

Whatever you say. But, clients will do anything to run off with your work! They don't want to pay either. Most will even provide false Telephone number and addresses on your contract to avoid being caught. These day, clients will avoid designers and others as much as possible or get the service FREE of charge. This is insane...

How much, if it all, do you worry about:
  • Downtime
  • Getting Hacked
  • Losing Data
  • Getting sued

I spend so much of my time dealing with the technical aspects of running online operations, I often don't think about the emotional ones.

Just curious about your input. I once had a person tell me that they could not sleep for weeks after their site got hacked. They were worried it would happen again.

I know when I first started as a freelance computer consultant, I really worried if I could maintain a steady income. Had good months and bad months and found it quite stressful.
A major fear is changes in the Google algorithms.

If you're playing by their rules and doing the basics right, you should be OK, but it's always a nerve racking.

Major changes can and have make or break an online business.

There are so many sites on the web and there is so much competition out there. I'm worried that I might break down and do whatever it takes to be successful, compromising my self and my values in the process (This also holds for ventures not in cyberspace).

I don't want to sell my soul just to make a buck...

The greatest fear for me has to be a major hack attack or for some reason, losing the entire data base.

Obviously backups are made and in event of an issue, it should be simply a case of a few hours work and perhaps losing transactions for that day. But if all dosent run smoothly?

Given i feed the family through my Darts Shop......it is a constant concern.

there is no fear if you do everything securely and perfectly.

But for the peoples like me from India the main fear is paypal changing it's policy to make it harder to business for me.

Hey pal,

Here's my inputs:

As long as you are providing good unique quality contents and not using any black hat techniques, there should not be issue of infringing any legal issue.

I would strongly suggest if you can back up all your important data regularly.
On top of this, it will be good if you can scan your computer daily (scheduled this) to protect your computer from virus attack.

Do change your password regularly will also prevent your computer from hackers.

Once this is in place, you are good to go.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Richman

There's only one fear for an online business, and that's upsetting the Google God

We always sacrifice a goat and an SEO techie before every algorithm update, worked a treat so far.

My greatest fear in running online business is of course if I failed. We know that world wide web is really a huge place with lots of competitors. So I fear that I am not successful if I run an online business.

Well you can avoid all these issues. Always select Good Service provider who offers 24x7 support with 99.9% uptime never compromise on quality. Hacking is mostly cause due to using open source application and by using weak passwords. You should avoid using open source application because they are risky and your password must be powerful. Always take backup of your website and also go with a hosting provider who provides you Backup facility. I hope by following above steps you can not face the issues in online business .
