As an SEO that works from home I face many struggles every day. Some of those struggles are from clients, however the majority are caused by my own relaxed work environment. I’m not even going to attempt to tell you how to solve client problems. However, if you work from home, I can help you become a bit more productive in your day-to-day work. And it might even help some of you who have to make the trek into the corporate office every day.

Sometimes it's good to get out of the house when you work from home for a living. Go outside and mingle with people. When i'm off work as in today, i am going to go out for a little bit because i hate sitting in the house the whole damn day.
If you are stuck on idea's for your online business then going to the local coffee shop with your laptop to work for a little might just be what the doctor ordered. At starbucks when i go there for my morning coffee before i drive to work, i see a few folks on there laptops working. I dunno if they work from home or just catching up on emails before they drive into work.

One thing ya got to do is let your family and friends know you typical work schedule during the week and weekends so they try to not bother you.
Lock the doors and take the phone off the hook. lol

Tips on Working From Home Effectively: Part Two
Here is a part 2 of the original blog post i shared last month.

In my previous article I talked about the basics that you need to work from home. This time I’m going to get into some issues that get a little bit beyond basic and into personal preference. These include music, beverages, file synchronization, time tracking, and invoicing.

Everything that was just mentioned, if you could comment on each of them, that would be great.

* Dedicated office
* Non-cell work phone
* Reliable Internet service
* Laptop computer
* USB mouse, keyboard, large external monitor
* At least two whiteboards
* To-do / Done Lists
* Google Apps calendar
* Coffee shop nearby
* Dragon NaturallySpeaking and a good headset
|
No office, computer's in my room lol
Current internet service sucks (need to change it soon)
No laptop, desktop
No USB mouse/keyboard but my monitor is a nice size (desktops don't generally use USM mouse/keyboard anyways)
No white boards.. notebooks and pens though lol
Check on todo lists
No google apps calender (hmm)
Gross, coffee lol
Don't really need Dragon
haha I think it outlines some nice ideas and concepts to adapt to working from home, but I think the article was written more on this writer's personal views rather than generalizations for working from home. To each their own though.. the ideas expressed are certainly ones that can be used, just variations on execution lol

I'm not sure you need everything posted on the blog. But here is my tip: It helps to have a general schedule to follow. It is easier to get sidetracked at home than at an office.

I do work from home, more than 8 hours a day many times. I like silence to be focused. When I write an article for my site, I turn off even radio. I even cutted off my television cable service as, I found myself that tv-set was not turned one for many weeks.
There is one thing for sure. Except weekend, I get a break for two hours to eat a lunch outside and to get in contact with real people. And then a walk for hour. It helps.
