Online Marketing: How Much To Spend
Quote:
Are you promoting a product online with a finite budget? Or maybe you need to follow a measurable marketing plan at your larger company? Imagine you have $5,000 per month for online marketing – how do you go about spending this?
Boil It Down To One Customer
Let’s say, I am selling a software product for $100 per month subscription. How much would I pay for a new additional customer? In other words, if I can simply pay to acquire another 40 or 50 customers per month, what would I be willing to part with?
To answer this, you should calculate the “Life Time Value” (LTV) of your paying customer. In other words, how many months does one customer continue paying the $100? If the answer is 5 months, then your LTV is $500. Of course, to earn $500 you would not spend more than this amount on acquiring a customer.

Do you promote a product online with a fixed budget, or do you promote a product online depending on the sales, product rankings, and economic trends?

Depends on the business niche of the product I am promoting. I usually check all of my budgets and advertising schemes at the end of every month and calculate where it is going well and not and either up the budget or decrease it if needs be

We tend to adjust our marketing budget depending on sales and turnover. By the way, thanks for the link. I hope the author won't mind that I copied the article and save it for future reference.

Well, i think budget is very important when you have it! You can invest it wrong and see that your return of investment is close to zero. Well, what is the most indicate technique to use when you have a budget to spend, i think there are more opinions here..!?
You can invest in vain, if you won't target the right market, and people with the product you are selling. So this has a double role..can get you a nice fortune, or can get you close to zero..

$5000 per month? I'd do all the necessary online marketing methods I know that works.
1. Ecommerce SEO
2. Email Marketing
3. PPC
4. Social Media

A fixed budget is really the first thing there. But once other doors are open for perfect investment, even the small businesses have to find a way to expand the budget.

I would like to agree. We cannot really tell the exact amount unless of course we have everything set up and planned.

Back old days you would say Location Location Location, now you would say SEO SEO SEO. First, I would have made sure that the product worth promoting. Then, all that 5k would get spend on those terms promotions in article writing and other similar methods.

I agree with Freeadstime. 5k is worth to spend on SEO, and of course with a good, professional SEO company that really takes you on top.

Yeah,
I do agree with the above discussion that we need to figure out how much ROI(Return on Investment) we will get after initiating the new marketing strategies for the products/services. However we need to focus more on the present demand by the customers for our products or services, so that we will calculate the revenue tentatively....
Have a great day...!
