Any act of kindness to a customer will make them remember you because not many people do it!

In my experience, every time a business has done something nice to me, it has made a huge impact how I feel about said company.

I think more businesses could learn from this!

The name of the article should be systematic acts of kindness rather than random acts of kindness. It seems the article refers to local retailers more than any other type of business. Things like ask questions & listen to customers have to be done on a regular basis rather than as random one off acts of kindness. Failing which, a business will lose goodwill rather than building it.

Very run of the mill advice for bricks and mortar businesses on the whole.

As Vaguar stated they are hardly random either.

Some good reminders. I agree these are organized approaches. I do like writing positive reviews for businesses that I deal with. Everyone need a pat on the back every once in a while. To encourage random acts by a company you have to create a culture within the organization for employees to look for opportunities to go above and beyond to serve clients and to think outside the box.

Very inspiring! Even if all in the lists cannot be applied in the industry where I belong, surely, any customer/client would appreciate these random acts of kindness.

The "pay it forward" program is actually a pretty amazing idea that can indeed engage customers to help out and make them feel good about themselves at the same time.

The other acts of kindness mentioned there are noteworthy too.
