PayPal alternatives

PayPal is necessary for small payments. However, I am looking at payments above $1000 where I can convince the client to pay through other media.
What is the reliability of such methods. Specifically, I usually have to receive money from US/UK to India.
Any inputs are welcome

I don't find any real PayPal alternative, however you may check out with moneybookers or Xoom.com

What about Google Checkout? I haven't really heard too much about it, and since PayPal is so widely used I just tend to stick to it.

Thanks to all for the responses.

1. Xoom is good, however there are a couple of problems. There is no control of the recipient even to know what went wrong if the transfer does not complete. We have had to ask our client to intervene more than a couple of times.
2. Google Checkout does not allow payouts to India and hence we were not able to use it
3. Moneybookers - Not sure

You can opt for 2checkout/Alertpay/moneybookers, don't use xoom its not for payment purpose result in taxation problems.

I think moneybookers might have problem these days. It looks like it only accept payment via bank transfer. I did integrate moneybookers on my own sites but have not received one successful payment.
