How to respond to request for my PayPal email?

Just soliciting your opinion on what would you do if someone (allegedly potential customer) requested your PayPal e-mail? I've been very reluctant to give it away because everything I'm selling on my Website is available WITH payment buttons. The guy who asked had no e-mail signature and used gmail.
Just so you know after 4 e-mails I gave it to him, but he didn't make a purchase. What would you have done and what do you suppose it's all about?

If all items are on your website, then I would not have given it to him. "Please use the website for your purchase"

Sounds kinda fishy to me.

Thank you for the advice. I was eager to reply because lo and behold, after several days, the guy has actually made a purchase. Even I can't believe it. It seems that the guy may have had little experience or something and may not have realized that his request was quite scary.

Giving your PayPal ID to someone wouldn't make you any trouble for it is just an email ID. May be your visitor wants to make sure whether you are an active vendor or affiliate online. I know there are a lot of inactive web stores found online where visitors lost their money on those stores. Here you have responded and won the sale for it is very important to respond your visitor’s request to grab his interest on your listed product.
