@cricket - Stop it! those are awesome. How do you introduce such a softness into the shots? One thing I'm learning is that in beauty/portraits you need to create a softness and remove fine details (that's wrinkles for us oldies).

@Jon - Love the close up headshot with the clasped hands. Lots of emotion!

@KevinB - You crafty bugger you can't lose when taking shots of kids! Love the self portrait maybe I'll add mine

Love the self portrait Dan!

People are my favorite shots I think. Where does the softness come from? Part of it is that it is very unusual for me to use anything but natural lighting. Part of it is just plain luck. The left over is cleaned up in post processing if needed. Black and white shots seem to do wonders for skin also. =)

I also use a fairly shallow depth of field and focus on the eyes.

Lesson learnt! I can't tell you how many of those hay bale shots i took in Europe. I didn't get one that looked anything like that brilliant shot hahaha.

Nice shot there Kevin!

I am not used to shooting newborns, so it's gonna take me a bit of practice to get this right.

Thanks!

Those shots are outstanding! I think you did a great job with them, I am not that great with taking pictures of little ones.

Here are a couple from the Smithville Photography Festival of people posing all around there.... I enjoyed it and learned a thing or two about 'reflectors' - :c) Enjoy!
