Photo Challenge: Lights and Display

Enter here pictures that you have taken from now through New Years of lights and displays where you live or travel to during the holidays. Please include information about how you took the picture so others can learn how to take pictures. Not required, but would be nice to help others to learn how to take pictures like the one you submitted. Thanks in advance for sharing your pictures and knowledge.

Aw... this is frustrating!

I was driving home tonight, and passed a killer light display at a jewelry store.
I thought to myself "boy, you should get a picture."

And then I come home to this thread.

That's it, I'm going back.
"to be continued..."

Very nice Eponymous. Do they have neighbourhoods/streets that everyone decorates their house in your area?

Not where I live, but 10 miles or away there is a neighborhood where every single house is decorated and the trees overhanging the streets are decorated. It is a real sight to see. Have not been there this year, but it used to be great. Not that many people in my neighborhood decorate.

What do they do where you live?

My Dad use to decorate with lights, Santa on the roof, snowman in the yard but we don't do all that anymore, just the lights.

There are different streets, cul-de-sac that go all out. Not crazy like you see on the Xmas lights shows on TV though. Some people who have the displays collect for charity.

We also have the Carol Ships that cruise Burrard Inlet. That was fun to go to as a kid. There was a bonfire fire on the beach if you went to a park. Some people along the waterfront have parties.

I might be cheating a bit.. this was actually taken a few years ago..

This picture was taken on the bridge over the riverwalk in downtown San Antonio, Tx. I used my old Nikon D60 on a tripod. The shot was taken at f/16 with a 20 second exposure at ISO 100.
