Snow

The UK is having its coldest December since records began, snow everywhere, the carol
Quote:
In the bleak mid winter, frosty winds made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone. Snow had fallen, snow on snow
has never been sung so much or with so much feeling.

So how about some snow shots as a challenge. Perhaps this should have been a sub section of Cricket's black and white challenge

These were taken in our garden a couple of days ago whilst the snow was still falling.

Is that typical for the time of year? UK has had it's worst December since records began.

I know that wanting to go and see the snow is so much different from the reality and the day to day issues that it causes.

But it looks so inviting and i imagine that Christmas is so much more believeable, certainly more romantic. These photos look beautiful

Yeah it's fairly typical. We usually get our first snowfall around Thanksgiving (late November.)
The temperatures are way below normal, though.

Yes it looks very pretty and very Christmassy, but it's a pig to drive in. We look like having another heavy dose on Tuesday, with any luck I will be in a hotel enjoying the food by then. The forecast is for a thaw on Wednesday/Thursday, hope so we are travelling back those days!

My Canadian friend said they should have had snow by now but it was warm and wet. That was around Lake Eirie. She said that the UK had their weather and they had ours. But guess Canada is a larger place than the UK.

hehehe

Canada is about 3000 miles (5000 km) across... Some places never get any amount of snow and others get tons. It has been a very strange winter here in Eastern Canada however with a lot of rain and above normal temps. It was raining here today but we are supposed to get 10 cm of snow tomorrow.

Very odd year...

They threatened heavy snow here this year. Went and got snow tires (the day before it did snow a bit). But the bad part hasn't come yet. Hope we didn't waste that money!

In the Lower Mainland for the last few years we don't get a lot of snow. Couple weeks of snow around.

But years ago we use to get lots. Deep enough you had to carry your kids after it first fell.
