1. WORK, Berber ladies in a cooperative patiently cracking and grinding Argan nuts to make the world famous Argan oil from Morocco.

2. ANIMALS. Berber goats eating Argan nuts. You are told that to make the oil, which is often used in salads, they collect the nuts from the ground. That is not quite true, they allow their goats to eat them on the tree and then collect the nuts when they have gone through the goat! Sorry about the photo, I just loved the story so much, I wanted to post it despite being taken through a coach window.

3. PEACE. The hotel complex where we stayed in Morocco.

4. NIGHT. Hotel complex again.

I am jealous that you are traveling and having fun. That last shot is either an excellent lens or a big needle.

Pretty large needle, but the lens does well for a compact. Off in 10 days for a short break, then June to Malta. O the joys of being retired. I have to say I don't envy people who work one bit!

But I am jealous of some of those shots which really show skill and a fantastic expensive lens, spose if I gave up my holidays.....think I will stick with the snaps rather then photographs!

It would depend on where we were going but for vacation I might opt for my little old Cannon P&S. I travel for fun not to carry a lot of stuff around all day. That weight factor is why I opted for a small light prime lens for the DSLR. Even with that 4 ounce wonder it is bigger and heavier that the little Cannon but 25 balanced ounces is much easier on the neck.

Mine weights about 4 ounces, that's the camera not the lens.

Another entry for work, guy making the pots which he sells. And another from Morocco.

Submission for Communication

I must admit it has been an unusual month for me. Every picture seems to have a story. This one is no exception and it is really strange. I may have aliens living in my fish pond who are tying to communicate with the mother ship after dark.

Monday night and then again on Tuesday from dark until dawn there is this keeling sound coming from the pond. It repeats every 2-3 minutes for about 15-30 seconds each time. It might sound like electronic noise, a really bad ring tone or even the bearings going out in the sump pump on a rainy night. It was the last one that got me out of bed at 4 AM, down 2 flights of steps to basement on a rainy early Tuesday morning. The pump was fine; the sump pit wasn't even full. The freezer cycled on while I was there to assure me that all was fine in the basement.

I went upstairs and heard it again, opened the back door, turned on the deck light and went outside there was nothing but the sound of my shivering. Turned off the light, went back to bed and heard the darn noise till dawn.

Then on Tuesday night the noise all started again. Wednesday evening after mulling over the previous events of 2 sleepless nights, I decided enough was enough and rigged a 150 watt flood bulb to shine on the pond. Peaceful quiet sleep was what I enjoyed. I can afford a dime per night for perpetual light until these aliens or that horny toad goes somewhere else.

I give you a through the window glass shot, taken in full darkness, illuminated only by a 150 watt bulb my submission for communication. It is actually about a lack of communication, whether between aliens or toads I donít know or care. Quiet, peaceful sleep is what I care about.

Communication

I've been down with some weird low-grade fever for a few days, thinking about but not taking pictures.

Anyway, here's my communication shot. Teacher & student at a recent weaving workshop. You can read more about it at my blog.

Had great plans for taking my camera with me on errands this morning, and even had a few shots semi-planned out. The camera apparently decided it liked the kitchen table!

I still have 6 things to find & shoot.

That's what I thought too. I was a bit too far away to determine.

Water

I've got a picture I like for Water. You can see it larger on my blog.

Quote:
I used a slow shutter speed to catch water as it rolled around and tumbled over a log that had fallen into the creek. I like the mix of clarity of some water droplets and the turbulence of other parts.

I believe these are my final three in the hunt...

#5 Dark - “The depth of darkness to which you can descend and still live is an exact measure of the height to which you can aspire to reach.”

#6 Water - "Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end." Scott Adams

#12 Weather - "Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead." Louisa May Alcott
