Day 1 Kitchen Helper
I kept telling him to blow on the sauce first. He's tasting the spaghetti sauce that we're making together. Owen's 5 and loves to be in the middle of everything. Since it's over 100 here, most all my photos for the next little bit will be inside the house. That is proving to be a challenge to find something interesting.

Yellow is my favorite color, and I love the bright, bold yellow of this marigold.

Day 2:
I don't know why, but I liked this tree...
Maybe I was just attracted to the green?

Thank you! And thank you for sharing a spot of color with us. All of our flowers withered in the drought and heat.

I like it too. It looks like a good shady spot in the heat of the day.

Entries are awesome! I have no camera right now since I lost my camera a few months back. Hope I can get a new one and join this fun challenge! The tree looks great Haley!

In juxtaposition with the Honorary Heroes sign, it makes me think of the first men on the moon, literally going where no man has gone before...
I'm really enjoying everyone's pictures, while thinking of ways to snap photos on my way to and from work. I'm working from home tomorrow, so I'll try to see if I can get shots with people in them

summer home of Chief Passaconaway
I am very blessed to live on the Merrimack River in New Hampshire. The river was an key transportation route for Native American tribes from the ocean to central NH, and provided water power for the textile mills of Manchester (my hometown) and other cities along its banks in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
I took this shot facing upriver, toward an island around the bend that was the summer home of Chief Passaconaway, an important figure in NH history. He was thought to have been born between 1550 and 1570, and died in 1679. The area where we live is known for its archaeological remains, and the construction company that built our house dug up musket balls and tomahawks when they excavated the cellar.
I love living in an area so rich in the early history of our country. The riverbanks are heavily wooded - you can't see any development from the water (except for a train trestle) and when I'm sitting by the waterfront, I can envision our Native American ancestors paddling silently upriver in birch bark canoes loaded with supplies. The woods are also home to bald eagles, red-tail hawks, cranes, and other wildlife.
It's a peaceful place...
