I am not ignoring this topic. I just simply decided it was way too dangerous to respond to in a public forum.

Or women trying to convince courts that men don't want to step up to the plate.

http://www.mediaradar.org/docs/VAWA-...ing-Orders.pdf
Read that. The fact that some woman in NM could successfully get a restaining order against a man she never met, David Letterman, just highlights the absurdity of the situation.
According to several attorneys in WA that I spoke to, it's standard operating procudure in a divorce for the woman to get a order of protection against the husband in order to increase her chances for full custody and higher child support payments.

My ex broke down my front door and it was still not an easy task for me to obtain a restraining order. Even when I did, it was only ordered for a short amount of time.
None of what you are saying is what happened to me in any way shape or form. I've spent many many days inside the courthouse waiting for hours for a court hearing to begin....and watched other cases just like mine happening as well.

of course....but not for the restraining order.
I was extremely naive about the system initially.

Well, not having an attorney explains why you may have had trouble.
Also, there's another factor that John doesn't mention and that is to a large extent, the family court system rewards pathological behaviour.
Christy, I'm guessing you tried to be decent and honest about it all, and your ex didn't. That would make it somewhat of an uphill battle for you.
I think that's part of what the Letterman incident shows too. A person can just lie in court and get results because of that.
