Australia - Flight ban for anti-Bush T-shirt
Me thinks this airline company is in for a lot of legal trouble.

Quote:
A Melbourne man is seeking legal advice after Qantas stopped him from boarding a flight because he was wearing a T-shirt that depicted US President George W Bush as a terrorist.
Qantas officials told Allen Jasson his T-shirt was offensive and could cause a security risk, as he tried to board a London bound flight from Melbourne.

All I know is they took my stain stick last time I boarded - so as I see it everything has changed on a plane.

People are scared Ferre, you cannot blame them for being aware of some messages on a T-shirt, who knows, maybe it is a message like:"I have a bomb in my bag"
It is kind of scary and at the same time, you hate or love someone, do it in your heart, not on a T-shirt knowing it will cause frighten amoung others.
This is my point of view.

What? It's a T-Shirt people. People aren't scared of t-shirts, they are scared of dying. If you can't see how silly pulling a guy from a plane based on a t-shirt, you need to stop and think about it.

If I wore a t-shirt that says, "I have a bomb," would you have a problem with getting on the plane with me?

No. Clearly wearing that T-shirt is going to get you searched but if you don't have a bomb why would I care?

That's illogical Thalasar. Either you agree that we should be able to wear whatever we want or you don't. You can't make the rules according to what makes you feel comfortable.

Actaully what you are describing simply isn't accurate. You are positing a pretty standard logical fallacy - the dilemma of false choices. It's not that "Either we get to wear what we want" or "We don't". There are multiple answers to the situation. And in terms of airport security being aware of how people are acting allow airport security to react accordingly. In no way do I have to agree to your either or proposition.

huh?
Again, this makes no sense. I don't want to get on a plane with some fanatic that feels the need to wear terrorist propaganda of ANY kind and I feel that I speak for the majority of PEOPLE, not just Americans.

No offense but in your example of the person wearing the t-shirt that says "I have a bomb" exactly how is that "terrorist propaganda?" Remember you set the example, not me.

*sigh*
My point is simply this. You said, "It's a t-shirt!" I'm assuming you meant by this statement that you feel it's rediculous to disallow someone to fly simply because of the writing on a t-shirt.
I strongly disagree. I am GLAD they threw her ass off the plane because an airplane is NOWHERE to display your "views" on what is going on in this world as far as "terrorism."
As far as my example of the bomb t-shirt - I am simply trying to get you to understand that YOU have a line you would draw over something as simple as a t-shirt.

"Draw the line"? Exactly what does that mean? I guess you support the repeal of the 1st Amendment here in the States? Here's another clue about terrorists - they tend not to draw attention to themsleves. That's why the 9/11 highjackers had Western dress and haircuts.

It's deliberately inflamitory. The purpose of that shirt from the moment it was printed was to give a big "up yours" to anyone who disagrees with it. That's fine and good, but the airports responsibility is to the well being of passengers. Shirts insulting world leaders (any world leader) is confrontational. Confrontational messages flare anger. Anger ignites violence. An airplane is not something you can just get up and leave if something gets started. I don't care if he stands on top of the statue of liberty wearing that shirt screaming "I hate America", and I don't think the airline would either, but screaming matches and fist fights have no place on an airplane, and a shirt insulting a world leader is made for the express purpose of inspiring just that type of feeling.
The guy was an idiot to try and wear it on an airplane.

I agree his shirt might have made someone angry but is it his fault someone might have anger management issues? Certainly not. "Shirts insulting world leaders (any world leader) is confrontational'
This means a whole bunch of political t-shirts are now a reason to pull you from a plan. It's a T-shirt.
