sitting here in good old europe - there are so many things i do not understand in america, to put it frankly: which i find completely stupid and idiotic! now this anti-dance-law is just a small example.
but i give america the benefit of the doubt. maybe somebody can explain to me all these things which are completely normal and i just do not understand:
why can you buy a gun at 18 - a beer only at 21? (beer more dangerous than guns????)
why is the nation in state of shock for two weeks, when a saggy nipple shows up on national TV, but the same nation produces over 60 % of the worldwide pornography?
why does america still have laws, which allow almost everybody to own a gun, although america has more people shot to death per annum, than germany, italy, france, canada, holland and australia put together?
why is america joining the circle of civilised countries like north-korea, china, sudan and saudi-arabia and still sentences people to death and carries them out?
why is america spending billions on wars, when about 15%(according to other studies even 25%) of the adult americans should be classified as illiterate, because they have difficulties with reading and writing? no better ideas to spend the money?
you can sue in america everything and everybody: o why is nobody suing bush, cheney and the other monkeys for lying about WOMD, just to have a reason to declare a war?
and i could go on and on and on..... just a logical explanation for the things above would be greatly appreciated!!

OK, I spent 14 years in the nightclub and bar industry, and it makes sense.
There is a license for everything.
A license for Just Beer.
A license for Liquor
A license to sell Cigarettes
A License for Pool Tables, and Arcade games
A License for Food.
A license for Gaming Machines (in Vegas)
and yes, a license for Dancing, or having a dance floor.
No license...don't get caught.

Grape Kool-Aide?, or wait for the next spaceship following the Hale-Bop comet in 200 years (don't forget to castrate yourself for better "enlightenment").

On a similar note:
During Oscars last Sunday, they were showing a collage of foreign movies (i.e. non-american ones). There was a very brief scene of a guy showing a middle finger, but the finger was burred out.
Later on, they were showing scenes from other movies; bodies blown up and mutilated due to war activities. None of that was blurred out though.

I think you are on to something here.
The funny thing is the huge difference between the self-image of the general American public and their real image around the world.
Self-image: Biggest, best, most powerful nation in the world, savior of freedom.
Real image: Dumb dangerous morons with too many weapons who care about nothing but their own financial goals, exporting fascism and supporting dictatorships.

Gun ownership is a constitutional right for all adults, beer drinking isn't.

First, Janet would be hurt by your description of her nipple. People were upset because it showed on regular television with no warning. The fact that some people produce porn in a country doesn't mean that others in that country want nudity on TV.

Liberals have tried to squash the right to own guns for years, but that pesky constitution keeps getting in the way. Denying the rights of the many because of the crimes of a few is more of a European thing. It doesn't settle as well here.

Because only muppets actually believe that, and you can't base a serious lawsuit on fanatical rants (well, some people do, but that's a different court)?? This guy would take it!

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
written in 1776 or somewhere, when they still had to fight indians(illegallly) and when people actually may have tried to steel your free-grazing cattle - it might(just might) have made sense. how some people still think it is the right of every nutcase to own an uzi, is still beyond my understanding.
"the right to drink beer is not constitutional" - well neither is my right to make a telephone call, but i can do it as soon as i can talk.
i am sorry, i do not think the constitution is an excuse for everything - it was written, to the best of the knowledge, more than 200 years ago. things might have changed slightly.......... if not:
how about
"Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole number of free persons, including those bound to service for a term of years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."
says the same constitution!
and last but not least: death penalty is JUSTICE! ooh boy, are you wrong!

sorry forgot one thing:
"only muppets believe that........"
so, according to you, there were or are WOMD´s? Never heard or saw anything of them...... and i am quite sure, if they would have found one tiny bit of it, FOX would have made a three-year-special-report!

Robert I'm trying to figure out what your point is. You bitch a lot.
makes sense to be able to buy a shotgun at 18. I had been hunting for 7 years already and I knew how to not point a gun at people. But I didn't know much about the effects of alcohol. can't buy a 'concealed' weapon, or handgun till your 21 either.
the death penalty is justice.
and 200 years isn't a very long time.

Thanks. I now understand you a lot better. Really. It's not that you're mean, you just don't get it.
Being 200 years old (not very old really) doesn't negate the constitution. It's the foundation of our society and yes, it's a very good binding "excuse" to keep people from taking away rights because some liberal doesn't like that particular right. Peoples right to bear arms wasn't to shoot indians. What an ignorant thing to say.

Death for death isn't justice? I'm not a death penalty totalitarian either. There are cases where I disagree with it, but I'm not going to tell a people they are "wrong" for wanting punishment that fits the crime.

That's not what you said. You accused the administration of knowing none existed and lying to start a war. You have no legitimate evidence to support that at all. Since you've concluded (not suspected, but concluded) that in the absence of supporting evidence....."muppet".
Do I think Saddam had WMDs? Given his unlimited resources and war-mentality I would be almost certain he did. I can't imagine why he wouldn't. Does not finding relatively small items in a massive desert in a very short period of time really mean they don't / didn't exist? There are people who have searched those deserts for decades....sometimes generations before finding what they knew was there. Even if they don't, your statement wasn't about that. It was that people had that knowledge and lied.
Wow, you managed to work in a shot at Fox News. Very creative.
