At least when Leading Seaman Turney was parroting what the Iranians told her to say she sounded considered, almost clever. Once left to her own devices back home, lured into the spotlight by media payments from the Sun and ITV to tell all about her 13-day ordeal as an Iranian hostage, she sounded less impressive; a lumpen mixture of unwarranted bravado and hammy belligerence. ''They're not gonna break me. I'm still here,'' she said, as if she had endured having her toenails pulled out by the Gestapo following a six-year incarceration in a concentration camp.

As if she had done something more valiant than survive, and survive without distinction at that. What an insult, not just to everyone who has served in our Armed Forces, but to the rest of us as well, those who are usually proud to call ourselves British.

Are you sure that Iran are on thin ice?

Iran know that the UK are pretty stretched at the moment with it's fingers in Iraq and Afghanistan and they also know that if the UK was to try anything against them, chances are that it would drag other countries into the mixing pot.

I would say what they did was more than smart. Capture British soldiers, look after them and then hand them back.

I'm worried that people are going to forget the 15 British sailors. We need to make sure our children and our children's children are taught their story. Does anyone know where I can find out about their story? I knew it before but I've forgotten the details. I'm sure it is a fabulous story.
