I am glad Don Imus was fired because before he was fired I had never heard about him. Ergo, if he had not been fired I would certainly never have known he existed. Because Mr. Imus is/was a radio entertainer and thus presumably trying to make people aware of his existence, his firing should make him happy. Mission accomplished.

Why is it that when a white man does something that can be perceived as racist, it hits the news and is all over the place, but when you put your TV to MTV, "white boy" is in every other sentence, yet no one ever says a word?

I don't agree with what this guy said, I can see how it can be perceived as a racist remark regardless of how he meant it. But when these people speak of white people in a derogative way, why is that so much different? In fact, why isn't that worse? They actually mean it in a racist derogative way.

I guess the same thing goes for mass murder, if you aren't successful at it, it won't make the evening news. Like the attempted suicide bombing a couple days ago in Vegas, why isn't that plastering the news hour? Is it maybe because he didn't kill anyone other than himself? But when a crazy person successfully murders 32 innocent people, he seems to be glorified in his actions.

I don't think there is any room in this world for racism...it is unacceptable, so I guess canning him could be deemed justifiable.

BUT, I think we have all become far too sensitive. People seem ready to fight over anything...words....just WORDS! I don't think he is really a racist. He just spoke before he realized what he was saying.

Even so, because he was fired, it should not spoil peoples' enjoyment of his Muppets. I understand why a lot of people dumped their Seinfeld dvd box sets after Kramer went bats. But Imus doesn't appear on the Muppet Show. He merely created them.

Nobody really cares that he said this, I myself would care if he called me a nappy headed hoe in some rap of his. I would regard it as an honor to be though of.

haha, not really... but firing some guy for saying something other people say without punishment isn't cool. Even though I understand why they did it.

I agree with hyperspace, I never heard of the guy before, now I have so I gues he must be happy with the publicity. If he gets a new show will anybody remember what he said 6 months from now? I think rather than being racist it was his sad attempt to use young, hip language and try to sound cool.
Politically correct is ridiculous, it's made people oversensitive.
