Obama dropped out of the race? I guess that leaves us with just John Edwards and Mitt Romney.
Time for a new poll, perhaps?

Better watch John, he's a businessman and good at it. When the forum slows down he acts to correct it.
Now, a question for you, John, and the forum
What do you think will happen if the major players gets in office. In other words, what do you think will be the major issues and the results if Clinton, McCain, Obama, or Huckalbee get in office. The Iraq war, the economics, the illegal alians, the global war on terror, the medical issues, taxes, etc. Each one will have a different priority and the national and international effect will be different. What is your prediction ??
Hint, don't believe what they say, look where their money is invested.
Your call

I've heard some talk that Obama will not take the nomination no matter what. Just street talk to be sure, but the Clintons have a history of eliminating anything that stands in their way. Enough about that.
If Obama gets the nomination he will not win. He's a star, a celebrity. His supporters (fans) are carrying signs that say BaROCK my world, and BaROCK Star. He's an amazing, inspiring, compelling speaker when scripted. He has the disadvantages of:
1) not being able to form a coherent sentence without a teleprompter. He begins to stammer and look angry when pulled away from scripted talking points.
2) having gained mass popularity before mentioning where he stands on 99% of the issues that matter to people
3) holding a verifiable record showing him to be the single most liberal elected official in American politics
4) a history written by his own hand describing himself as a frustrated separatist with an affection toward Marxism
He has been immune to any hard questioning and the toughest debate opponent he's had is Hillary, an educated lady but fails to shine when under the gun. She's a poor debater. Republicans haven't forced him to answer a thing about it. Save it for the general elections.
Charisma without substance can get you lots of fans in your cheering section during a primary, but America at large will expect answers to questions he hasn't yet had to answer, a position statement he has yet to give, and a plan he doesn't have the experience to develop.
In a funny instance that stands on this point. At Sean Hannity's urging a crowd of Obamamaniacs (their own term...not mine) were asked to name ONE SINGLE ACCOMPLISHMENT of the man the were so certain should be commander in chief of the free world. The dumbfounded faces were almost comical as you could tell they'd never really considered him beyond his stage show. The best answer was "ummm................he got elected to the senate".
McCain is almost certainly the Republican nominee and has his own problems. Many devoted Republicans have threatened to cross the isle or just stay home if McCain gets the nomination. If he's smart enough to put Huckabee on the ticket that is likely to ease up. Republicans cannot win without the Southern and Christian vote. Southerners feel better about someone if there's a Southern man there to keep an eye on him, and the same for Christians. Huckabee addresses both of these.

If Ron Paul walked up to me and said, c'mon, Atom, you can't not vote just because I didn't get nominated, I'd tell him to go straight to hell and that I'm glad he didn't get nominated.

A valid point. He has achieved some worthy achievements, though. I know, for instance, he got a Magna cum Laude in Law from Harvard (which means in the top 2 or so percent, actually a bit higher than that).
He also erm... erm... < trails off into a mumble>

Can't you see that he's our only chance to get this accountability issue fixed? And, vote fraud? These are HUGE issues. Even if Ron Paul turned out to be full of crap once elected, anyone that truly loves this country and indeed this world, can see that he's our only chance at this point.

South:
Oh, and Dubya had only six years experience as an elected official before becoming President. If the Republicans make an issue of his relative lack of experience, that would be more than a little hypocritical, don't you think? So unless they want to make themselves look foolish, they'd do better to avoid that one. And achievements? What achievements did Dubya have? Draft-dodging drunk-driving failed businessman?
I also think a negative campaign by the Republicans could easily backlash on them. But I also think McCain is a decent man who wouldn't care too much for that kind of thing. Not that he shouldn't emphasise his own experience by way of contrast. That would be fair. But they'd have to be fools to talk about Obama's lack of experience, given they nominated Dubya. Double standards and everything.
It's interesting there is such a backlash too against the Washington set in general, that outsiders on both sides (I think it's fair to call McCain an outsider in Republican terms) suddenly look very capable of seizing their respective nominations.

If it is between Obama and McCain, I will not vote for either.

Well, I can understand that. Have you considered going to the booth and writing 'none of the above' on the ballot? That's what I did, the one and only time I ever voted.

I have voted in every election since I became eligible to vote. Every fall and every spring.
If it came down to those two, I would likely go with a third-party candidate. Yes, I know they have no chance of winning with the way our two-party system dominates, but it's the principle.

I think it only ever gets counted as a spoiled ballot paper. The only person that ever notices is the lowly council clerk counting the papers. Someone should change their name to None Ofthe Above and stand in an election and see what the public does.
BTW does anybody know how to spoil your ballot paper in the digital age of balloting. Is there an option to say I don't like the sods on the ballot?
