Whooo! Welcome to the most polarized and intriguing election of the century! Get in your corners! I've heard some polls that say it will come down to Clinton vs. Guiliani and Guiliani will win. Sounds plausible. But I do disagree: I think America is ready for a female or a black president as long as they can garner the votes and talk up the issues. We can say we're not ready but we'll never really know until it happens. Unfortunately, Hillary has her problems and Obama doesn't have much of a platform apart from "Hey! I'm Obama!" On the Republican side the evangelicals (who played a huge part in electing the current president) don't seem to wholeheartedly back either McCain or Guiliani (Guiliani apparently has "family values" issues). Plus, McCain has started to play the war card. Moderates who don't support the Iraq war will recoil at this.
To be honest, I don't know enough yet to know who I support. The primaries in Feburary will tell me a lot, not to mention narrow down the choices and revealing running mates. But, looking at how things stand right now, I do think it will come to Clinton Vs. Guiliani.

Well, first off I'll be voting in the primary. So I can't really say who I will vote for in the end until I know who'll be on the ballot.
There are a couple people on that list above I'd never vote for in a million years.

Guy here.
I don't think Obama will make it across the finish line more because of his inexperience then his skin color.
I don't think Hillary will win because it'll likely lead to another major civil war here perhaps bloodier then the first. You'll see what I mean if she somehow wins the nomination.
In my humble opinion I think we're ready for either a woman or minority president, but my opinion is based so much on how I feel and I have no way to know how many millions of people are still out there that just CAN'T pull the lever for either yet. Of all the Dems Obama is my favorite, but he just lacks enough experience. Unfortunately, that is why he is so interesting! He hasn't been nearly as tainted by Washington as many of the others.

Giuliani may seem like the right guy, but he does pose a few problems for the bible thumping voters: gay rights, abortions issue, gun control, i.e. to many he's not conservative enough. McCain suffers from the same washed out conservatism, although not necessarily because of the same stand on the above issues. But there are some major difference between the two. While Rudy rushed downtown on 9/11 (which mayor wouldn't), unlike McCain he was not so heroic when it came to serving in Vietnam.
Although not always of paramount importance, Giuliani's past and fairly recent facts from his personal life may hurt him too. I'd expect some of Rudy's dirty laundry to be in public view during this coming elections campaign. First being married to his second cousin (after ensuring it was legit in his faith) and then, after 17 years, nullifying the marriage cuz it was not legit in his faith after all... c'mon, that doesn't show a lot of personal integrity.
I also agree that it's kinda early for Obama. IMO he's burning his chance. He should build up some more experience and actually show what the heck he stands for. For now I have an impression that his platforms and views are custom made only recently just because a presidential candidate is supposed to have a platform and views.
My bets go to Hillary and McCain. I can't vote in the US but if I could I'd vote for Hillary.

One of the things I don't like about Hillary, is her stance on illegal immigration.

Just wait, someone is going to pull some damaging dirt up on Giuliani real soon.
It may be his own party.
He will be gone soon.
He's got way too many skeletons on the closet, his family values suck, and he has been way to critical, and hypocritical of others.
Nobody wants someone who bashes another for having an affair, from his mistresses bedroom.

I think the pack lacks! I just don't think any of these people have what it takes to get this country back on track.
Maybe some dark horse will come along. Who cares if they are black, white, woman, whatever as long as they have what it takes.

So you don't care if it is someone who is in the best interest of the country, as long as it is a woman?

Thompson will enter the race early Summer and blow by the the current field. He comes across as the only grown up. Leaving the Senate and becoming an actor really set him up for a run. Unfortunately the name/face recognition that one gets when they become a well known actor really makes a difference in the USE United States of Entertainment).
I won't mind though because he really is a solid guy and respected by both sides of the isle.

I think that when someone gets into politics, their family values go out the window.
People have to learn to expect that. It's difficult to get anywhere in politics without getting your hands dirty.
