Not done a too bad job (ok, forgetting the Iraq conflict)
He has done a few good things for the country and there have definately been worse leaders.

Rumor of this leaked last week (But of course the gov't denied it!) They expect him to be worth ₤10 million, which would make him one the wealthiest ex-PMs.

I'm glad he is resigning. I hope they offered him a good contract with seasonal bonuses and so on. I was a bit surprised that the Queen would offer him a new contract as president of England, because in America you can only be president for 8 years. We have this system to prevent us from ever electing some wacko more than twice.

Bush said..."When Tony Blair tells you something as we say in Texas, you can take it to the bank."

I think we need some more of Bush's wisdom in this dialogue

They say he'll be remembered for helping the poor. What has he done for the poor? if money spent on Iraq had been used on the education and medicine, he could be saying now he's done all he could for the country.

He will be remembered as a "failure" if not the worst failure.

I'm not fond of war criminals. One down, a few more to go, that's all I think about his resign.

I'm thinking that is a little strong, although ...
Did they go into Iraq under false pretenses? Did they lie or were they just mistaken? Have they tried to cover up the true number of civilian casualties or was it too difficult for them to count that high?
I think it is long overdue that Blair leaves, however well intentioned he thinks he was. But it does not mean there will be much change in the UK for the next few years, or internationally until Bush goes. But there should be. They are wasting over 5billion on an id card scheme, that will not work. They are going to start finger printing all school children for goodness sake. They are creating a DNA database of all UK people who come into contact with the police, and being innocent does not mean your record is removed from the database. Ask the thousand or so school aged children who are on this database and have done nothing wrong.
I guess we both look forward to seeing the back of them. But can I bring myself to say he was criminal. Misguided, stupid even, but I'm loathed to go so far.

I am not defending all his actions but I can say that the UK has had worse and people may find that most people in power have blood on their hands.
Be it oil, pharmaceutical, tobacco or GM crop companies, they all have blood on their hands in one way or another.

Yes they lied, information was 'fabricated'. Proven fact and confirmed from more than one source. See the leaked memos for one of those sources, and the Valery Plame case for another, the person who leaked those memos got sentensed to jail this week btw.

Some would argue he modelled himself on her. I don't think he had the hair for it myself.
I think he will go down as an average Primeminister for the country, but one of the most sucessful labour leaders.
I'll be honest and say I voted for him. And now he is leaving I kind of feel cheated. There was so much promised and I don't feel enough was delivered.

I can't believe you had not heard of this, but it shows how good it was kept out of the mainstream media:

Actually I think Gordon Brown will be worse off. I think Blaire was not bad at all.
