Isn't anyone amazed by the fact that there is an unattended DROP BOX, to put baby humans in?

Couldn't there be a something a little more...I don't know...personable?
A desk, or a service where there are people to take the baby?

I am so glad you said it... I thought I was losing my mind.

I think that it really makes no difference if the child is 3 years old or if 3 minutes old, how can you use a drop box for a baby or child?

The ironic thing is it took me 7 years and numerous cycles of IVF to get pregnant and I kept at it because the chances of adoption are lower and of adopting a baby next to non existant due to red tape. And here they go dropping off a baby like a pile of papers to be recycled!

If anyone has an unwanted baby contact me, I would gladly give them all a home.

Well the whole point of the drop box is for people who would otherwise abandon their baby on the street. Of course there are facilities for people to give their baby up at a desk. That would be going through a legal adoption process. But if a young mother does not want a baby and is afraid to confront anybody, it is all too often the case she abandons it in a park or somewhere. The drop box avoid this problem. When the baby is placed in it, it is put into a proper baby incubator. Alarms are sounded so that the hospital staff are alerted. Noone from the outside can gain access to the child. If there were staff members at the box the whole time, what is the point of it if the purpose is to stop abandomnents due to not wanting to confront anyone?

This is loosely related to the topic...

I read this article the other day in a magazine. I found it online. It is kind of scary.

In Japan, the pain of being excluded from cool-mom cliques has driven women to kill their children's friends

That was shocking!
I was thinking that this idea that finding one's place in the social heirarchy and being accepted by peers seemed overly hyped and only significant in Japan, then I remembered Columbine and Virginia Tech...
It's related....and so sad

Hey, this parent is better than the ones here in U.S. who kill them when they are tired of them or want to prevent another family member from taking custody. At least the father was giving the kid a chance at a better life and didn't just leave him on a street corner but took him somewhere he would be cared for.
