Toddler found inside unwanted baby drop box
There's now a place where you can drop off your unwanted babies in Japan.
The rationale is that it's better than just abandoning them in crowded streets.
Fair enough....I guess....but check this out: somebody tried to get rid of his three-year-old. What do you think?

I saw this earlier today. I have to agree that it is wrong. The boy was 3 and even told them he came with his daddy.

WOW is all I can say.
I mean I get mad and for a split second would like to drop off my kids somewhere else, but who in thier right or wrong mind would do this?
This is totally amazing if you ask me, totally strange.
Now in Japan I can understand if they are getting lose, but just doing it to get rid of the kid now that takes total insanity.

What a freak! I can understand why they'd set this up, but just giving up a toddler? Even if the parents take the kid back now, he'll be messed up, I'd think.

I would agree, any kid that is subjected to this type of treatment and then to have it publicly distributed is sure to be scarred.
Can you imagine middle school when one of the other kids figures out this was the Toddler that was left behind. Talk about fights or crawling into a shell.

Yep, and the media aren't helping the situation. In my opinion, by making it so public, they are worsening the situation for the kid, if his identity ever gets out.

I would agree, the media in my opinion have way to much power and access to minors. With all the information about, it is going to be a feather in somebodies cap to disclose this kids name.
I just can't get over the father doing this to a three year old. There should be public exhibition and humiliation laws still in place for this father.

It may seem crazy that a father would leave his kid there but let us try to put ourselves in his shoes.... maybe he just wants a better life for his son and thinking that the drop box is the best place to leave him and hopefully the hospital can take care of his adoption.
Remember...the Japanese are not Christians... I do not think they have churches where they can leave children at. Just my two cents.
Dont get my wrong...I feel for the kid.

That is pretty odd. Soon enough people will be sending their toddlers to abandoned islands to live on their own.

This is loosely related to the topic...
I read this article the other day in a magazine. I found it online. It is kind of scary.

In Japan, the pain of being excluded from cool-mom cliques has driven women to kill their children's friends

It seems as though everything is not as happy and rosy in Japan as John makes it sound.

I read this story yesterday in the paper. I have a three year old. That kid is going to be scarred for life. He is too little to understand what exactly happened, but he will remember that he was left like that.
I guess the Japanese officials are pretty ticked off too about this. It was suppose to like the "safe haven" laws we have here in the states. You can drop off the baby if it is a newborn and at certain places like hospitals. They will not go after you then.

This isn't just a matter of being Christian or not. In Japan you don't even need to deal with an adoption agency or an attorney (at least as of feb of 2007.) This is flat out wrong, there were other options he could have utilized. He chose not to, which shows at least to me laziness, or that he just doesn't care that much...and my opinion he was completely wrong. Not because he wanted to get rid of his kid (whole nother conversation) but more so his method of doing it. I hope this man is involved in a freak bocce ball accident or something that involves castration so he can no longer breed.

Topshelf I have to agree. I am in Disney right now with the little ones and believe me their are plenty running around that drive me nutts, but I would take any of them in and raise them if they truly needed it.
No way a sane person does this. More than likely this dad has major problems mentally, I hope he gets help or the Japanese legal system allows him to get help.

That was sick, I mean I hope this child won't see this picture. It would surely affect his growth as an individual

It was a Catholic hospital. And who would leave their child in a church? Anything could happen to them.
