Amsterdam
I've spoken with quite a few people who have travelled to Amsterdam and I've been told it's fun, but not a place to stay for longer then a few days.
Anyone here been to Amsterdam? What was the experience like?
I'm thinking of visiting and hanging out with my good v7n buddy....

I've been there a few times as I lived not far from the city. Its a brilliant place and I highly recommend visiting at least once. Lots of tourist stuff to do but also plenty of chill out places when things get too hectic.

Due to their work, a friend of mine and her husband lived there for 2 years. They loved it! They found the people to be friendly and the atmosphere lively and fun. (even for the non-party-animals that they are!) Also, I know they never heard one anti-American comment ever.

If I'm unable to get the original title edited I want to offer an apology for my original choice of titles. I was upset and before I realised it I was throwing the city of Amsterdam under the bus.

It would appear you've been very successful there Ferre. Why don't you sit back and relax and let the rest of the world live they way they'd like without going out of your way to attack everyone (Americans, Believers) who doesn't agree with your grown up OPINIONS.
Any way, I don't suppose that's a question that needs to be asked. :-(
Thanks for the video. It explains a lot. I don't want to insult you or your city, but the worst thing I've heard about it is the brutal treatment of women in the sex trade. How could such an "open minded" and "tolerant" people tolerate the blatant abuse of women right in sight for the world to see? I'd like to think that it's not as bad as I've heard or seen on TV and I suspect it isn't, but there must be something to it, no?
One more thing... it's peculiar that you seem so upset over christians judging you and forcing their beliefs down 'your' throats, but isn't it you whose doing just that in these forums? You mentioned something about your "sect" getting harassed... may as well let us know what you're referring to. Perhaps that'll explain why you've expended so much energy here at v7n educating "Webmasters".
Thanks for keeping it interesting.
Cheers.

On another note... I saw a news clip yesterday about a DEA raid on "pot shops" in LA yesterday. While I have no doubt the laws were being broken I do doubt that the raids were anything other than counterproductive in the effort to reduce drug use in the long run.
They could just do commercial clips of interviews of long time drug users (any mind altering substance) and that would help more than giving people allover the images of agents wearing riot gear marching through angry unarmed citizens. Usually NOT a good thing unless your objective is to deter or stop a riot.

Thats a global problem including the U.S. Plus, the sex industry in Holland is regulated which means its probably safer than anywhere else in the world for the women working in it. My guess is that the majority of the women working in the dutch sex industry does so by choice and isn't forced into it.
If you don't want to see woman being exploited then simply don't go down into the red light district.

I did but it was the wrong choice of words as mauiman wasn't worried about exploitation of women, well he didn't specifically state that.

My aunt was born and raised in Amsterdam and she seems perfectly fine. In fact, she parties pretty hard for an older lady... quite a bit more fun than other adults around here

It's definately not a place for the frustrated, the prudes and the whiners.
For them there's Disneyworld.

Depends on your attitude ... I love the place ...
If you're easy going, laid back and liberal then go for it -- if you're the opposite then don't!

I don't feel that women are exploited there. Prostitution is very much legalised there.

Yep, and this reduces the possibility for them to be exploited tremendously. They are independent business people who are subject to a check and balance system which includes taxes and they have to register at the chamber of commerce, this rules out pimps who do the paperwork for them and it also rules out illegality in which pimps and human slave traders operate.
Countries which prohibit prostitution give way for criminals to take control, it's a simple fact of life.

Same is true for many things on varying levels. Alcohol. Pot. I'm not saying I approve or disprove of any of these, but just because some people don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed.
